The expected hiring range for this position is:

$29.75-$38.46.

About the Role:

Under general supervision, prepares and electronically stores components, assembly models, and drawings, to satisfy design requirements for civil, structural, and limited mechanical or electrical systems, utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and other job-related software applications, ensuring compliance and consistency to professional standards.

What your day-to-day as a Design Drafter at Fermilab will look like:

  • You will prepare and create schematics, layouts, and other related documents.
  • You will create moderately complex 3D models and makes some design calculations. Recommend approach to be followed in developing drawings, as circumstances require.
  • You will provide information to assist with procurement, fabrication, assembly, installation, and other aspects of the completed design.
  • You will perform field investigations to assist in resolving design issues, as circumstances require.
  • Interacting with vendors, requestors, fabricators, and machine shops, as circumstances require.
  • Maintaining and updating related files and databases; electronically stores archives of drawings.
  • Assisting engineers with engineering analysis using model measurement tools.
  • With required Fermilab medical clearance and Laboratory training, and with line management authorization, performs occasional snow removal work using provided equipment. Occasional snow removal work includes clearing local pathways around buildings and equipment using approved snow removal equipment, including snow blowers and snow shovels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • High School Degree (or technical certificate)
  • 4+ years of related work experience

Work Arrangement:

  • Hybrid: is a work arrangement in which an employee as part of an ongoing regular schedule, works at an alternative worksite in the United States (e.g., an employee's residence) on some days and at the primary worksite on other days. Requires an approved hybrid work request for one or more days a week worked remotely within the United States on a routine basis.
