Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Unit Computing Specialist for University Communications & Marketing.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Assists the Unit Computing Manager with technical support and is responsible for assisting with the on-going support of all technology for the Department of University Communications and Marketing.
  • Responds to and efficiently resolving requests for technical support independently and in coordination with the Unit Computing Manager.
  • Installs, configures, supports, maintains, and troubleshoots computer hardware and software, Local Area Network (LAN), mobile devices and peripherals for staff.
  • Assists the Unit Computing Manager to maintain the department's inventory of technology and software.
  • Processes surplus requests.
  • Makes recommendations for computer upgrades.
  • Supports new and continuing technology initiatives for the department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the Unit Computing Manager.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Willingness to expand their own knowledge-base as required to adapt to changing technologies, deployment methodologies, and end-user needs.
  • Effective organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 applications Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
  • Knowledge in working in heterogeneous computing environments.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to handle multiple, shifting priorities. Familiarity with Windows Active Directory, Windows Server OS, and SMB shares.
  • Experience with both Macs and Windows-based Operating Systems.
