Launchis an innovative, cohort-based professional development program designed to help high-achieving college grads jump start their careers. When you belong to Belden's Launch Early Career Leadership Program, you'll be part of a team participating in real-world, challenging, interactive, and action-based learning curriculum, developing your skills on the job. You'll earn valuable experience over three 12-month rotations through different areas of the company.

As a member of our Launch Program Class of 2028, you'll be fully immersed with a global team of R&D wire and cable experts, eager to teach and learn from you along the way. You'll develop a strong understanding of how a global business operates from the inside and develop functional and leadership skills that will set a solid foundation for the rest of your career. We offer opportunities to work in our facility in Richmond, IN.

R&D Materials Engineer rotations can make an impact through experiences such as:




  • Define, implement, and perform chemical, physical and mechanical laboratory measurement, evaluation, analysis, process and procedures for fiber optic and cable products and to provide technical assistance for the marketing, manufacture, testing, sale and application of products.
  • Conduct a variety of chemical, mechanical and/or physical tests on developmental or production units or components for the purpose of providing engineering groups with information and data which can be used in the analysis of product design, product performance, materials or manufacturing methods.

  • Assist in design of test methods or equipment for the purpose of conducting tests according to established industrial, governmental or customer requirements; recommend changes to existing procedures to provide more accurate results or increased information for use by engineers. Audit and write new laboratory procedures.


  • Maintain test logs, records and prepare test reports to complete test program. Analyze and discuss test findings with cognizant lab or engineering personnel to aid in data interpretation.
  • Interprets data, reports conclusions and makes recommendations for improvements based on observations of performance and testing to aid engineers in project completion.
