Senior Director, Product Management - Veterinary Patient Information Management Systems

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Director of Product Management to lead and drive the veterinary patient information management system Software as a Service (SasS) cloud-based product portfolio. This role will be responsible for product vision, strategy, execution, and growth while ensuring alignment with customer needs and corporate goals.

As a key leader, you will manage a team of product leaders, own P&L accountability, work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and engineering, and play a customer-facing role to drive innovation and value for veterinary professionals and corporate accounts. Additionally, this role will focus on interoperability with pet owner engagement capabilities, ensuring that veterinary interactions lead to high-quality consultations and improved pet owner communication.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Product Innovation

  • Define and execute a strategic roadmap for IDEXX's SaaS, Cloud-based veterinary patient information management system, ensuring alignment with business goals and market demands.
  • Lead platform innovation, incorporating customer feedback, market trends, and emerging technologies to drive long-term success.
  • Ensure interoperability with pet owner engagement platforms, enabling seamless two-way communication between veterinarians and pet owners.
  • Develop features that support high-quality veterinary consultations, helping veterinarians deliver clear, informed, and actionable guidance to pet owners.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, continuously refining product positioning and differentiation.

P&L & Business Growth

  • Own P&L responsibility for the product portfolio, ensuring profitable growth through strategic investment and revenue optimization.
  • Define and track key financial and operational KPIs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and revenue targets.
  • Develop and implement pricing, packaging, and monetization strategies that maximize market adoption and financial performance.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of product managers, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and fun culture.
  • Set clear goals, objectives, and success metrics for the team, ensuring accountability and growth.
  • Encourage a customer-centric and data-driven approach to product management, leveraging insights to drive product decisions.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and empower the team to take ownership of their respective product areas.

Go-To-Market Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with sales, marketing, and customer success teams to define and execute go-to-market (GTM) strategies that drive product adoption and revenue growth.
  • Ensure product messaging, positioning, and marketing strategies are aligned to resonate with veterinary professionals and corporate accounts.
  • Drive product launches and market expansions by coordinating with engineering, operations, and support teams for seamless execution.

Customer & Corporate Account Engagement

  • Serve as a key customer-facing leader, engaging with veterinary practices, corporate accounts, and industry partners to understand needs, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic accounts, ensuring the product portfolio aligns with their business goals.
  • Ensure that veterinary professionals are equipped with tools to improve communication with pet owners, fostering better compliance, engagement, and patient outcomes.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, shaping the evolution of the product portfolio through direct engagement and partnership.

Veterinary Consultation & Pet Owner Communication Excellence

  • Develop features that enable veterinarians to provide high-quality consultations, ensuring data-driven recommendations and improved pet health outcomes.
  • Enhance real-time communication capabilities between veterinarians and pet owners, supporting follow-ups, treatment adherence, and care continuity.
  • Drive initiatives to improve workflow efficiencies, allowing veterinary professionals to spend more time on patient care and less on administrative tasks.
  • Ensure that pet owner engagement tools integrate seamlessly into the veterinary workflow, reinforcing trust, education, and proactive pet care.

Executive Leadership & Stakeholder Communication

  • Manage expectations and communications at all levels of the organization, from executive leadership and board-level discussions to direct interactions with product teams.
  • Present product vision, business updates, and key performance insights to leadership teams, influencing strategic direction and investment decisions.
  • Drive organizational alignment by collaborating with finance, operations, and technology leadership to balance short-term execution with long-term growth.

What you need to succeed -

  • 15+ years of experience in product management, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role, preferably in B2B2C and SaaS, with veterinary software solutions experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of owning P&L and driving profitable growth for a product portfolio.
  • Experience in managing and scaling high-performing product management teams.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to inspire and manage expectations at both senior leadership and team levels.
  • Expertise in go-to-market strategies, customer engagement, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Deep understanding of B2B and B2B2C business models, including experience working with corporate accounts and large enterprise customers.
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational structures, balancing startup agility with corporate governance.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Passion for building a collaborative, inclusive, and fun team culture that fosters innovation and excellence.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities to align stakeholders and inspire teams.
