The Opportunity

  • Billing Analyst at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company.
  • Play a key role in billing all types of transactions as you will get exposure to several different regions and their associated products and processes.
  • Enjoy wide exposure to the Contracts and Settlement teams, Middle Office, and Finance, as well as to our multi-state operations that stretch from Texas, Wyoming, Washington, and Hawaii.
  • While this role could keep you busy and challenged for years to come, we are growing, both organically and via acquisitions. A strong performance in this position could set you up to take on additional responsibilities or pursue advancement in our organization along multiple paths.
  • Learn and grow into new areas, such as contracts/settlements or learning SAP (our financial ERP system) or Allegro ETRM (our trading and contract input tool)
  • Reporting to the Billing Manager, this position will be responsible for ensuring that sales of refined products (i.e.. gasoline, jet fuel, or asphalt) to customers are billed appropriately. As a valued member of the Accounting department, this person will communicate regularly with the marketing department and customers verifying the accuracy of those billings and assist in the collection and application of the related cash as needed. This role is critical to the realization of the Company's revenue intake at our Wyoming, Washington, and Hawaii locations.

Key activities include:

  • Ensure that billings are issued, and payments are received in a timely and accurate manner
  • Be the liaison between Manufacturing and Marketing to resolve pricing and other billing related issues and discrepancies
  • Respond to requests from internal and external customers and ensures all appropriate actions are taken and/or communicated to the appropriate personnel accurately and timely
  • Ensure compliance with the established Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) guidelines and procedures
  • Respond to internal and external audit requests with files information or reports
  • Generate and create billing reports for Financial Reporting, Margin and Tax groups
  • Push process improvement through reporting and system changes
  • Work closely with the Contracts team/Master Data/SAP IT to ensure proper setup of complex pricing formulas, new customers, and special invoicing requirements
  • Assist with the monitoring of customer accounts, the application of cash to customer accounts, and the collection of outstanding receipts
  • Interact and support Marketing, Risk, Accounting, Legal and Treasury
  • Communicate with offsite billing team for corrections or adjustments
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by Management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant billing or shared service experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred or additional job experience in lieu of a degree
  • Analytical, organization, and interpersonal skills required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, including complex/compound spreadsheets required
  • Knowledge of industry terminology is preferred
  • Understanding of industry contract language is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy required
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written required
  • SAP experience a preferred
  • Allegro experience a preferred
