What you'll do

Docusign is seeking an exceptional Software Engineering Intern to join our AI team in Seattle, where you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI/ML innovations. In this role, you'll design and implement AI solutions using state-of-the-art language models, while conducting experiments to explore different model architectures. You'll also research and integrate the latest advancements in AI/ML, optimize large-scale data processing, and enhance AI processing pipelines or AI infrastructure for efficiency and scalability. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Principal Engineer.

Responsibility

  • Work with data scientists to implement and AI solutions

  • Collaborate with product teams to understand use cases and build AI solutions

  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions

  • Assist in training, fine-tuning, and testing AI/ML models

  • Help preprocess, clean, and structure datasets for training AI models

  • Contribute to AI model performance improvements (speed, accuracy, efficiency).

  • Assist in debugging issues related to AI workflows and infrastructure

  • Work closely with data scientists to understand real-world AI use cases

  • Participate in team meetings, stand-ups, and brainstorming sessions

  • Contribute to AI Codebase amp; Development

  • Write clean, maintainable code for AI/ML applications

  • Participate in code reviews and learn best practices for AI development

  • Stay Updated on AI/ML Trends

  • Research and summarize emerging AI techniques and industry advancements

  • Explore new AI frameworks, libraries, and optimization methods


Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, JavaScript, TypeScript
  • Experience with backend development using Node.js, C#, Java, or similar OOP languages
  • Interest in working with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and designing efficient, scalable data models
  • Experience with API development (REST, GraphQL) and best practices in error handling, logging, and monitoring
  • Experience using Git for version control

Preferred

  • Passion for backend development, system reliability, and API design
  • A mindset focused on problem-solving, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
  • Experience or coursework related to distributed systems, cloud computing (AWS, Azure), and microservices architecture
  • Interest in optimizing system performance, debugging, and profiling applications
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools
  • Ability to analyze system metrics and logs to enhance reliability and fault tolerance
  • Previous internship or personal projects that demonstrate an understanding of scalable backend systems

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

Washington, New Jersey and New York (including NYC metro area): $31.00/hour - $38.00/hour
