Day Shift Hours: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm/Evening Shift Hours: 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm/Night Shift Hours: 11:00 pm to 7:00 am

Maine Medical Center Sanford has an immediate need for a Companion Sitter to join our care team on the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit in Sanford, ME.

This uniquely fulfilling position supports the unit and staff by providing observational support for patients thatneed eyes on support, as well as support to patients through hands-off direct, one on one engagement.

What you'll do as a Companion Sitter:


  • Provide conversation, listen, play games, complete puzzles, etc. to support patients overall sense of well-being when they need it most, by being present with them.

  • 8 hour shifts; rotating weekend requirement

  • Additionally, we have a full-time Nurse Educator on-site for additional support and further learning opportunities for all of our staff focused on behavioral health issues and diagnosis.



Position Summary

The Bedside Companion - Acute Care role provides supervision and close observation of selected patients for identified behaviors.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)


  1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: Relevant experience preferred
