Job Summary

Sorenson Communications is looking for an Agile Program Manager to join our Engineering Agile Delivery team. This position will have a passion for agility with excitement to level up their skills to help our organization adopt agile ways of working. You will facilitate the learning and growth of cross-functional teams in developing an Agile/Scrum mindset, continuously improving practices in their context, and guiding teams and leaders to enable the effective flow of delivery across the end-to-end value stream. As a servant-leader, the Agile Program Manager plays a key role in planning, facilitating, supporting teams, removing impediments, and providing team coaching and mentorship. You must have a passion to continuously learn new practices and techniques that improve the organizational Scrum implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the agile program processes and their execution, escalate impediments, manage risk, and help drive program-level continuous improvement.
  • Advance the flow of work in an Agile environment from product idea through design-build-test-operate for complex customer focused, business critical applications.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and training to individual teams and verticals on technical practices and all aspects of Agile/Lean, including planning and estimation, daily meetings, team collaboration, tracking progress, and retrospectives.
  • Provide coaching and training to product owners, engineers and functional managers on the Agile/Lean product development process.
  • Work effectively using agile technical project management methods.
  • Promote team empowerment through team-building techniques, ensuring each team member is making a meaningful contribution and fully engaged in the project.
  • Act as "Scrum Master" for multiple teams.
  • Coach and mentor other Agile Delivery team member to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum throughout the Engineering and Product departments; actively participate and contribute to the Agile Community of Practice and Agile Center of Excellence.
  • Participate as a thought leader in the Agile space and contribute to workshops, documentation, training materials, and authoring any similar literature that further our mission.
  • Maintain and report team performance metrics; communicate projects transformation progress via weekly updates to management, highlighting successes, risks, areas of improvement, and suggested resolutions.
  • Foster a positive relationship between lines of business and resources supporting Agile Transformation; evangelize the need for top-down support for agile culture and values in order to achieve maximum results from the use of agile practices.
  • Champion quality and technical excellence in the Scrum Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Education

Minimum

  • Certification Scrum Master or equivalent

Preferred

  • Certification SAFe Scrum Master or equivalent

Preferred

  • 4 Year/Bachelors Degree

Experience

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 3 years Scrum Master experience. Experience working with Jira and Confluence as well as SmartSheets. Jira admin experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of Agile and Lean principles and practices.

Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement).

Excellent communication skills, essential for collaborating with teams and talking with management and other non-team individuals.

Prior experience leading through influence.

Ability to work with and lead a team.

Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC); Experience developing/managing digital capabilities preferred.

Problem solving and conflict resolution ability.

Outstanding organizational skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and/or stand at a desk and work with a computer for extended periods of time.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer components.

Regular and predictable attendance required.
