Overview
Event Services is a growing department whose primary function is to assure the events hosted by Utah State University, "Exceed Expectations". Incumbents in the Coordinator Service II position assist with the logistical management of event spaces in multiple buildings and outdoor spaces for university and public events including the setup and striking of chairs, tables, stages, and other event related equipment. In addition, incumbents will assist with cleaning and maintaining event spaces and other building areas to maximize a healthy, safe, pleasant, and functional environment. Incumbents work as a member of a team to complete tasks.

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Manager:
  • Organize and assemble setup equipment (chairs, tables, stage, pipe & drape, podiums, etc.)
  • Clean and make repairs to event related equipment
  • Transport & setup/strike equipment and supplies
  • Read and follow setup maps and instructions
  • Create maps for setups in Social Tables
  • After the conclusion of event strike equipment, inventory, and inspect for damage
  • Prepare event space before & after event setup to make sure it is clean
  • Remove Equipment not required for event
  • Review daily and weekly setup schedules
  • Supervise assigned hourly employees to accomplish setup and other tasks
  • Assist Manager with training of hourly employees
  • Provides guests, customers, students and employees with directions, general information, and assistance
  • Practices and promoting continuous improvement of environmental and safety practices
  • May need to assist with snow removal, across multiple buildings, including shoveling and salting, as required in adverse weather conditions
  • Follow and initiate all building procedures in the event of an injury, emergency, or evacuations
  • Attend planning meetings with customers and Program Coordinator, when applicable


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience or an associate degree/vocational training or a combination of education plus experience is required
  • Ability to work Monday- Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, with the flexibility to work a varied schedule when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of methods to set up and strike various event related equipment including chairs, tables, stages, etc.
  • Ability to learn about and care for event related equipment
  • Skilled with computers and programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio/Social Tables.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to receive regular directions and coaching from a supervisor or manager
  • Ability to use a

  • Ability to perform tasks without close supervision
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed. Ability to train and guide hourly and/or student employees

  • Knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment, such as vacuums, carpet extractors, etc.
  • Ability to understand chemical cleaning applications and methods
  • Ability to be detail oriented
  • Ability to act professionally with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to reflect a positive image of Utah State University
  • Skilled in customer service including resolving customer concerns
  • Knowledge of safe work practices
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
