As a Senior Manager, Global Supply Chain Planning Management supporting the U.S. Marketing Logistics Team, a typical day will include:
Develop and implement a global procurement strategy for technical services that supports the company's overall objectives and market requirements. Collaborate with regional teams (engineering, field operations, repair centers, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure alignment of procurement plans with local market conditions, regulations, and business goals. Ensure the optimization of sourcing strategies and foster synergies between global teams. Lead global demand forecasting and ensure alignment between global technical service requirements and procurement activities. Drive demand planning processes and ensure that technical services are procured at the right time and at the most competitive cost across regions. Collaborate with global stakeholders to anticipate demand fluctuations and adjust procurement strategies accordingly. Manage global supplier relationships and negotiations, ensuring high-quality technical services and favorable terms for the organization. Establish and maintain long-term partnerships with global suppliers, ensuring consistent service delivery and performance metrics. Handle escalations and address supplier-related issues to ensure continuity of supply in all regions. Identify and implement global cost-saving opportunities by optimizing the procurement of technical services and improving sourcing efficiency. Analyze global market trends, negotiate with suppliers for best pricing, and consolidate vendor contracts where possible to achieve economies of scale. Monitor and control budgets for global procurement projects, ensuring cost efficiency across the organization. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of procurement managers, buyers, and planners across global regions. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability. Set clear goals and performance expectations for regional teams, ensuring effective execution of global procurement strategies. Identify and mitigate risks associated with global supply chain operations, including geopolitical, market, and supplier risks. Ensure compliance with international regulations and corporate policies, ensuring that procurement activities follow ethical standards and best practices. Implement and monitor policies related to global procurement to safeguard against legal or reputational risks. Lead the development of global reporting mechanisms, providing key insights into procurement performance, cost savings, supplier performance, Inventory budgets and service delivery across regions. Provide regular updates to senior leadership on global procurement activities and strategies while offering recommendations for continuous improvements. Use data analytics to guide decision-making and inform strategic sourcing. Partner with global operations, engineering, repair centers and finance teams to ensure alignment on technical requirements, procurement timelines, and budget considerations. Work closely with legal, risk, and compliance teams to review contracts, SLAs, and other procurement-related agreements on a global scale.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs) The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English 7 Years of Relevant Experience 5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership Work hours: 40 hours Travel: 10% Relocation: No Sponsorship Assistance: No
Preferred Experience:
Experience managing global teams and working in cross-functional, multicultural environments. Demonstrated expertise in sourcing, procurement strategies, and vendor management for technical services/products. Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Deep understanding of global supply chains, market trends, and technical service procurement. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. Advanced analytical skills, with proficiency in data-driven decision-making and global reporting tools. Experience with procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. (SAP, Baxter Planning) Certifications in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) or Project Management (PMP) are highly preferred.
