Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, development planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape the future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including US Space Force, U.S Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. DSG also assists the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems.

The Enterprise Mission Systems team is looking for a Systems Director to run the Enterprise Platform Team that is focused on providing SSC programs with technical guidance as they adopt cloud based platform solutions. This team is focused on integrating a large portfolio of digital technologies across the USSF enterprise to provide near term solutions to our customer's pressing information system challenges. The Enterprise Platform Team develops and analyzes platform and cloud solutions, evaluating their ability to support various Space Force software programs. The Enterprise Platform Team develops prototypes to demonstrate the performance and effectiveness of various Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) designs, including both DoD and commercial services.

Work Model

This is an on-site position that is located at 2424 Garden of the Gods or our Colorado Springs, CO facility. This position requires at least 4 days of in-office work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and lead engineering staff to develop and analyze platform and cloud solutions
  • Collaborate with outside organizations to provide technical support
  • Personally perform technical work in the fields of cloud, platform, cyber, and/or network engineering
  • Influencing key Government and contractor stakeholders to move forward with proposed platform capabilities
  • Lead staff who reside in multiple locations with a large concentration in Colorado Springs, CO
  • Build teams with appropriate skills and coordinate staffing and priorities to ensure excellent support to customers
  • Develop and implement the department's technical strategy
  • Assign resources, estimate staffing needs, coordinate activities, and connect with requisite stakeholders

What You Need to be Successful - Systems Director, Cloud Computing and Cyber Security Architecture

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in Cloud, Software, Platform, Network, Cyber, and/or IT System Administration or related fields
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities either in project or people leadership.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working through complex engineering challenges which have both technical and political contributions
  • Experience working directly with contractors to implement and test complex designs
  • Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site domestically approx. 10%.
  • Current and active Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI government clearance, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Current TS/SCI or SAP security clearances, which are issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Advanced degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Experience building and leading a team of technical contributors.
  • Familiarity with military space systems and operational concepts
  • Experience working through cybersecurity accreditation in Space Force or DoD programs
  • Experience defining and implementing a strategic technical vision
  • Significant experience with commercial cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure
  • Cloud, security, network, or other IT related certifications

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$185,100 - $277,600 Pay Basis: Annual
