The University of New Mexico (UNM) is seeking a highly skilled University Facilities Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll provide advanced mechanical engineering services for the utility plants and distribution systems. You will be involved in the planning, development, and implementation of campus-wide construction and repair programs, ensuring the continued success and growth of our university's infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Provide consultation, coordination, and leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of campus projects. Serve as the project manager for comprehensive engineering design projects, ensuring they meet all engineering standards and compliance requirements. Review and approve the work of external engineering consultants, ensuring designs align with project specifications and regulations. Identify, investigate, and analyze complex engineering problems across campus, providing creative solutions to development needs. Lead interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate engineering solutions. Plan and develop project budgets, ensuring cost-effective implementation strategies. Represent the engineering discipline in strategic facilities planning across the university. Supervise and mentor engineers and technical support staff. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned to support engineering projects. Why Join Us? Conditions of Employment Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check. Professional Engineer (PE) may be required, depending upon field of expertise. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a directly related Engineering field; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
