MGH Unit Coordinator | Acute Medical Telemetry

Bigelow 11 is an innovative acute medical unit. This team utilizes an all RN model in which the RN coordinates the nursing plan of care, implements nursing interventions and treatment plans, evaluates the outcomes and provides all physical care. All 25 beds are equipped for telemetry monitoring.
As a Unit Coordinator,
You will play a critical role in patient care by serving as the central source of information by communicating with patients, families and medical staff.
You will transcribe medical charts for patients to ensure that the medical treatments and procedures are carried out and order supplies for the unit.
Acts as the central contact person for the nursing unit; performs transcription, clerical and reception duties; and will become an expert user in Epic.
Work under the direction of the Nurse Manager or designee to coordinate the non-nursing/non-clinical activities essential to the effective functioning of the nursing unit.
The position will require a high degree of accuracy and strong communications skills.

Schedule

  • Availability for Day (7am-7:30pm, 7am-3:30pm), or (Nights 7pm--7:30am, 11pm-7:30am)

  • Rotating Weekend and Holiday schedule

  • Applicants for this position must be able to work the per diem shift coverage time in order to be considered for this opportunity.

Required: High School diploma or Graduate equivalent

Preferred: Associate degree; Epic experience.

  • Medical or health care experience desirable, but willing to train qualified and willing candidates.

  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and procedures.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers

  • Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with office procedures & equipment i.e. filing, copying, scanning, printing and faxing.

  • Proficiency in MS Office.

  • Ability to proofread and edit written documents.

  • Ability to use phone system.

  • Managing one's own time and the time of others.

  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral skills.

  • Ability to use standard office equipment.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
