Job Description

The Retail Specialist is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Retail Shops in Milton & Rehoboth. This position is responsible for oversight and ordering beer and spirits, devising and implementing new Retail sales promotions, ensuring the retail space is maintained and well-stocked, assisting guests with purchases, and providing stellar customer service while enhancing a guest's overall experience. The Retail Specialist is responsible for leading and completing monthly inventory processes, maintaining sign out sheets, and must have a solid understanding of COGS and inventory procedures. The coworker will be the face of the retail area and the contact person for all large orders shipments arriving at and departing from the shop. This role may also be asked at times to offer insight, direction and thoughts on retail operations and retail items at other locations. In addition, this role may be called on to open or close the entire location, including the shop, bar and kitchen.

What You'll Brew:



  • Manage shop inventory, including receiving goods, quality control checks, ensuring merchandise and beer/spirits is well represented in the shop, stocked, tracked, reported, sold, and inventoried
  • Responsible for strong customer service and creating positive shopping environment for brewery guests
  • Responsible for conducting sales transactions and category management within the POS system
  • Manage upkeep and organization of the shop. Ensure there is a productive store environment
  • Creates PO Request for manager approval
  • Maintains SOP's for inventory and stocking procedures
  • Responsible for logging all shipments of merchandise arriving at the shop and inputting new inventory items into POS
  • Maintain cleanliness and overall appearance of the shop
  • Assist with training of shop keepers
  • In conjunction with all management, enforces compliance and adherence to all employment policies
  • Partakes in oral and written discipline
  • Assists with terminations as needed
  • Maintains professionalism and authority at all times with guest and staff
  • Partners with management to complete employee evaluations on an annual basis
  • Manage monthly physical inventory process
  • Responsible for opening and closing tasks as required
  • Supplies - tracks and forecasts supply needs; i.e. glassware, gift cards, retail items
  • Ensures orders are placed as needed to keep par levels in line with the business needs
  • Conducts inventory as needed - weekly and/or monthly based on area of responsibility
  • Works with Boston Beer Company to address inventory discrepancies and work on solutions to control shrinkage
  • Manages merchandise promotions around festivals and holidays
  • Handles merchandise sales analysis and maintains an overall margin goal as set forth by the General Manager
  • Works collaboratively with BBC Accounting team in regards to merchandise/POS reporting and maintenance
  • Works closely with and manages relationship with local vendors on specialized products
  • Conducts and manages new floor sets, including re-setting and designing new merchandise displays often


What Ingredients You'll Bring:



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years in customer service/retail environment
  • Strong retail inventory management experience including knowledge of COGS, margins, inventory management, new product development, merchandising
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in an organized and detail-oriented manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-task environment and under time constraints and deadlines


Level: 8
In accordance with pay transparency lawsthe hourly range for this role if hired is $17-$32/HR.
