The Senior Service Line Manager (SLM) is responsible for overseeing strategic and programmatic development across multiple sites of practice (Fred Hutch, UW Medical Center) and all disciplines within their service line, as well as supporting work that spans service lines. In close partnership with Fred Hutch and UW Medical Center clinical and administrative leaders, the Senior SLM leads efforts to ensure the highest standard of care for patients across the care continuum. Aligned with the organizational strategy, the Senior SLM drives and guides performance metrics, which include but are not limited to service line growth, patient access, research objectives, and financial stewardship.



Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and execution of the strategic plan for the disease group(s) or program(s), ensuring alignment with the overall mission and strategic priorities of Fred Hutch as a whole.
  • Knowledge of Service Line Capability: Gain deep understanding of the current state and capability of the service line as well as those of local, regional, and national competitors.
  • Value Stream Knowledge: Gain deep understanding of practice standards, resource needs, and productivity output for the service line, as well as the broader organization.
  • Ensure Competitive Edge: Identify critical gaps or new innovative offerings to assure that the care and services offered position both the service line and the organization for success.
  • Data Analytics: Analyze, interpret, display, and communicate key metrics to administrative and clinician leaders particularly in the areas of growth, access, and activity volumes.
  • Operational Excellence: Identify and recommend improvements to patient services, throughput, and flow to achieve the highest value of care.
  • Community Engagement: Work closely with External Strategic Relations to implement and monitor key components of the referral process and community provider relationships.
  • External Communications: Partner closely with Marketing and Communications to ensure patients and providers have access to current state service line information.
  • Mentorship: Support team members on key service line deliverables by sharing their experience, knowledge and skill.
  • Financial Stewardship: Exercise fiscal responsibility in decision making.
  • Communication: Communicate with Fred Hutch and UW Medical Center clinical and administrative leaders to keep them well-apprised of service line project statuses and decisions.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years relevant experience in a healthcare setting, plus 5+ years' work experience
  • Business & Management - Understanding of budgets and work unit operations.
  • Critical Thinking - Ability to synthesize a large amount of information and anticipate needs, draw accurate conclusions independently.
  • Problem Solving - Ability to grasp details of a situation quickly and convert thinking from listening & learning to volunteering and facilitating solutions.
  • Systems Thinking - Ability to understand the flow of a process, how all pieces fit together, and how making a change will impact the entire system.
  • Data Analytics - Ability to understand data and how best to use it to gain a deeper understanding of what is happening or to make decisions.
  • Communication - Ability to communicate verbally, in writing, or through other forms of visualization to effectively convey an idea, concept, or specific information.
  • Facilitation - Ability to increase the likelihood, strength, or effectiveness of the outcome of a diverse group.
  • Presentation Skills - Ability to present complex information in a way that effectively engages administrators and clinical leaders and provides a solid basis for understanding & decisions.
  • Emotional Intelligence - Ability to manage one's own emotions and the emotions of others and apply them towards thinking and problem solving.
  • Ability to work vertically and horizontally with people of various educational, professional, and organizational differences.
  • Oncology Business - Understanding of types of cancers and treatments.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's in business, Health Care, or Public Health Administration
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a health care setting
  • Payer Contracting - Understands the components and elements of contracting.
  • Research Business - Basic understanding of clinical trial startup, budgeting, execution.
  • Tableau Functionality - Understanding of data visualization, analytic capability.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $137,259.20 to $216,923.20, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
