Overview
Supervises regional premium audit operations. Monitors the premium audit cycle, resolves and/or escalates audit disputes, and monitors direct teams in assuring operational goals of the team and department are met. Monitors commercial premium audit activities for customer segments and all lines of business, ensuring effective delivery of service to all levels and external customers. Oversees and/or completes audits for complex commercial lines accounts requiring in-depth knowledge of premium auditing. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Recommends operational procedural changes and plans. Organizes and implements department guidelines and initiatives in accordance with company guidelines. Keeps current on all changes affecting the office and department. Distributes all information to unit regarding classification changes, etc.
- Supervise team regarding procedures and controls that ensure accomplishment of service standards.
- Responsible for the organization and structure of training plans for new and less experienced premium audit members. Provides ongoing feedback to trainers and new employees regarding training expectations, and provides progress updates to Sr Premium Audit Manager through training process.
- Develops and distributes administrative reports as needed to relevant parties.
- Acts as liaison with other departments such as claims, underwriting, accounting, and safety management. Acts as subject matter expert to provide guidance to agents and other departments. Reinforce the ease of doing business with Selective by meeting or exceeding agent expectations and service quality on a consistent basis.
- Reconciles discrepancies between audit information and policy statements. Makes decisions regarding disputed audits, classifications, and application of rules and is responsible for the escalation of these situation when needed.
- Ensures all department actions are in accordance with state regulatory compliance and other regulatory requirements. Maintains documentation of compliance.
- Reviews audits to ensure they are completed in compliance with guidelines and makes recommendations for improvement. Perform quality reviews in compliance with established Company Quality Assurance guidelines.
- Oversees and/or completes audits for complex commercial lines accounts requiring in-depth knowledge of premium auditing. Visits insureds to audit bookkeeping, payroll, accounting or other relevant records and accordingly assembles facts and data having a bearing in the determination of actual earned premiums for specific classes of commercial insurance.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Requirements
- Must be able to effectively communicate premium audit decisions to agents and insureds.
- Maintains familiarity with all insurance manuals, premium audit manuals, handbooks, guides and related materials.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills required including auditing software and Microsoft Office.
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to climb stairs and occasionally carry 20 pounds.
- May require overnight travel.
- Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing.
Education and Experience
- College degree preferred.
- 5+ years Premium Audit experience
- APA or working toward completion of APA

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
Pay Range
USD $84,000.00 - USD $127,000.00 /Yr.
