The Opportunity

As a Lab Scientist, you are responsible for performing high-complexity laboratory testing on clinical specimens, interpreting and reporting results, and complying with study protocols, IRBs, Manuals of Operations, Test Instructions, and related Code of Federal Regulations and ICH guidelines. You also participate in scientific studies and activities supporting registrational and non-registrational clinical trials and organize, conduct, and monitor experiments utilizing established and published procedures and technical and theoretical understanding.

Also, the Lab Scientist:

  • Supports panel build and sample processing projects, adhering to required standards for Clinical Validation Studies, and may supervise and guide team members.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to finalize panel specifications according to study protocols and authors the panel batch record while managing the review and approval process with Quality and stakeholders.
  • Plays a role as a sponsor in sample shipping, receiving, and internal testing for Clinical Operations, ensuring proper documentation and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Critically evaluates quality control and test results, analyzes experimental data, and participates in regulatory/FDA or internal audits as needed.
  • Communicates experiment results, represents CTSL in project meetings, and collaborates on experiment procedures, workflow instructions, and project planning.
  • Adheres to internal safety guidelines and external regulatory requirements, maintains the laboratory in an inspection-ready state, and participates in routine lab maintenance and safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoots instrumentation issues, supports resolving customer questions and complaints, provides training and develops training materials, and contributes innovative problem-solving approaches.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 2 years required, of Basic laboratory experience in either academic or industry setting. 3-4 year preferredin relevant industry experience, including experience in participating clinical research work within a laboratory.

Behaviors, competencies, and qualities of the ideal applicant.

  • Experience documenting detailed Clinical Trial activities in Case Report Forms, Sample Accountability and Investigational Material Accountability Logs is desired
  • Demonstrated laboratory skills (pipette handling, understanding protocols, proficiency with safely handling biological and potentially hazardous materials).
  • Proficient with spreadsheet and office programs (Microsoft Office and Google Suite)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with excellent attention to detail, ability to be flexible with tasks and schedules.
  • Approximately 10% of domestic travel may be required.

The expected salary range for this position based on Pleasanton, CA is 62,800.00 - 116,600.00 USD Annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
