Job Description

Team Summary

The Card Product group manages the deployment and optimization of Visa's core products base consisting of Credit, Debit and Prepaid payments solutions globally. The team is also responsible for the development and deployment of innovation across this product suite. To do this, we work in close partnership with Visa clients and key internal and external stakeholders across the globe. We are also the team responsible for leading the transition of conventional card-based solutions onto digital form factors, ensuring Visa payments solutions remain the market-leading way for consumers to spend their money and manage their payments across Visa's global regions.

What the Senior Director, Credit Product Management (Global) does at Visa:

Reporting to the Global Head of Card Products, the Head of Credit Product Management will be responsible for initiatives across four broad areas of responsibility.

  1. Credit Product operational efficiency, centered on Product Rule definition and modernization as well as administration of waivers. Product Rules are core to delivery of Visa credit products across our markets.
  2. Credit Product best practices, leading identification and development and execution of Credit product best practices to drive improvements in usage, activation and preference for Visa amongst consumers
  3. Drive credit innovation, through leadership of initiatives within the Visa 2030 strategy to expand Credit across traditional credit card issuance and in the provision of credit outside of credit card issuance
  4. Facilitate Visa thought leadership, working closely with regional and in-market teams to develop a clear point of view on the direction of credit to provide use.

The role-holder will lead a team of direct reports and will work closely with Credit Product teams across each of Visas global regions to evolve and build end-to-end consumer experiences that drive client preference for Visa as a strategic partner and make us an enabler of superior value propositions for digitally-enabled consumers.

An essential part of Visas success is the establishment and application of rules and standards, to ensure a uniform, reliable point-of-sale UX, both online and offline. The Head of Credit Product Management will lead the efficient administration of these Rules and Standards as they pertain to Credit Products, ensuring that the Rules are fit-for-purpose, while also ensuring their efficient operation and administration.

The role-holder will be responsible for the identification, development, commercialization and launch of new ways to grow the consumer credit business as part of Visa's 2030 corporate strategy, working closely with internal Global counterparts as well as Visa issuers to expand credit-card issuance, as well as newer ways of efficiently facilitating the provision of unsecured credit.

As part of this role, the Head of Credit Product Management will also be responsible for facilitating the collation, analysis and dissemination of best practices and recommendations for optimal Credit Product performance both internally within Visa, and as a thought-leader externally, working closely with Visa Consulting & Analytics.

You will need to be highly collaborative and will be the key interface between the market teams and Visas global team to ensure our platforms drive product differentiation, consumer activation and engagement

As well as working with in-market, client-facing teams, your team will work closely with the Regional counterparts, Corporate Strategy, Marketing, Client Services, Finance, Pricing, Legal and Compliance.

Credit Products are one of the key basis for Visa's business globally and encompass conventional card-based credit programs as well as newer solutions such as Instalments. Consumer credit spans most life-stages and income segments in all Visa's markets from entry-level credit products through to solutions designed to meet the needs of Ultra-High Net Worth consumers and as such is a key platform for revenue generation and consumer engagement for Visa and our clients. As the largest of Visa's solutions sets, Core Products offer Visa the most visible and impactful opportunity to drive digital payments enablement and thus is a key part of our digital migration strategy.

    This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 3 days or more of the time based on business needs.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications

    • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
    • 13 - 15+ years of experience and at least 8 - 10 years of experience in the payments industry, preferably in product development, product management & strategy
    • Experience in financial services, fintechs, telecom, retail and ecommerce will be an advantage
    • Proven experience in P&L ownership & sharp understanding of macroeconomics, consumer behavior, product operations, business processes
    • Established credentials in delivering product & business solutions and keen interest in payment technology & innovation
    • Understanding of network product, rules, technology will be advantageous
    • Strategic thought leadership coupled with execution bias to drive initiatives and meet key result areas
    • Sound business acumen, analytical skills and keen understanding of new technology payment business models and profitability drivers
    • Understanding of Visa business and organization strongly preferred
    • Excellent direct & indirect team building & leadership skills; managing local & remote team members as well as "dotted line" / extended team members in Visa's global regions.
    • Master's Degree in business, engineering or a related field

    Projects you will be a part of:

    • Leadership of a team of payments subject matter experts, primarily based in the San Francisco Bay Area, providing advice and guidance on Product Development, Campaign Management, project management and initiative execution
    • Development, roll out and monitoring of financial performance indicators for core products across segments, consisting of gross/net revenue targets, A&P budgets, product metrics
    • Leading the development and execution of our strategy to expand credit across the global in collaboration with in-region and in-market colleagues both through already established channels as well as newer routes to market
    • Development and execution of Visa's strategy to expand credit and development of our future of Credit thought leadership positioning for industry and media consumption
    • Launch of new solutions based on cross-functional collaboration using Visa's products and capabilities or through fintech, loyalty partners, merchant co-brand partners and other third parties
    • Global ownership of Visa Rules, including taking responsibility for any updates and innovations to drive Product Rule flexibility where necessary
    • Provision of Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support on client activities, client consultation and project delivery across all of Visa's global regions
    • Drive Visa preference amongst our issuing client base through all of the above and working in close collaboration with our Relationship Management and other client-facing teams
    • Business planning, management reporting, analytics, budget management and adherence to compliance standards across all activities
    Additional Information

    Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

    Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

    Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

    U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 192,700 to 301,150 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
