Job Summary:

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly service to customers, involving receipt and payment of cash, and recognizes customers' needs with suggestions appropriate to the Bank's services. Follows the established policies and procedures for this area, in accordance with the Bank and the supervisor's direction.

Responsibilities:

  • Processes night deposits and mail-in deposits.
  • Maintains proper cash levels in drawers, keeps cash secure, and ensures a high level of safety for the Bank.
  • May service the ATM according to schedule or need.
  • Opens safety deposit boxes.
  • Completes CTR reports as needed.
  • Performs duties of branch CSR on scheduled Saturday rotations.
  • Accepts checks for cashing, receives checking and related accounts, accepts deposits, verifies cash and endorsements, makes change, and issues receipts.
  • Receives savings deposits, pays withdrawals after verifying balance and signature, and redeems U.S. Savings Bonds.
  • Receives loan payments when installment loan coupon accompanies payment.
  • Processes credit card cash advances.
  • Responds to customers' inquiries as appropriate.
  • Sells cashier's checks.
  • Cross-sells bank and affiliate services.
  • Performs various balancing functions, including ATM.
  • Completes all required training.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least six months of proven experience in both cash handling and customer service; experience in a bank or similar financial institution is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, professional approach to engaging with customers
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of bank records and customer transactions
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to multitask
  • Solid mathematical aptitude
  • Proficient in operating a computer terminal, 10-key calculator, and other standard office equipment
  • Willingness to represent Southern Bancorp through participation in civic and community organizations
