THE ROLE:

A+E Global Media is seeking a driven and dedicated privacy counsel to be a key member of the privacy team. The Director, Privacy Counsel will consult on privacy and data-related legal requirements in the dynamic media entertainment industry.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Handle operational and transactional privacy program aspects in relation to A+E Global Media's consumer websites and applications.
  • Ensure overall compliance with privacy and data protection laws, as well as industry best practices, to build consumer trust by embedding privacy-first design into products and services.
  • Support and monitor the operational aspects of A+E Global Media's privacy program across consumer web sites and mobile/CTV apps to ensure that processes and practices meet applicable legal requirements, including privacy policies, data subject rights (DSR) requests, consent management platform (CMP) and privacy signals, vendor due diligence, and data maps.
  • Work closely with members of the privacy legal team, as well as other members of the broader legal team, and business partners throughout the organization, to manage and evolve a first-party data strategy and to meet ad sales, marketing, and other business goals.
  • Draft and negotiate Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and privacy and data protection terms in contracts, especially with regard to ad sales and marketing agreements.
  • Identify and communicate potential privacy risks across the organization and stay informed of, and communicate, pertinent changes to, or developments in, privacy laws, regulations, standards, and guidance.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • J.D., and Bar membership/in-house registration.
  • A combination of 5+ years of privacy-focused law firm and/or in-house experience.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Prior experience dealing with privacy matters in a multi-faceted in-house setting; familiarity with media and advertising/ad-tech a plus.
  • Prior experience drafting and negotiating privacy and data protection agreements and terms, and serving as the consulting privacy subject matter expert for attorneys working across different verticals.
  • Prior experience managing the day-to-day operational aspects of an enterprise privacy program, such as DSR, data mapping, vendor due diligence, and privacy impact assessments; familiarity with leading privacy technology platforms such as OneTrust and Sourcepoint a plus.
  • Displays an understanding of data flows and the associated privacy implications, especially in relation to advertising and AdTech.
  • Displays good analytic, written/oral communication, and time management/multi-tasking skills.
Compensation Annual Pay Range: $164,727 - $192,731 Annual Incentive Target: 17.50%
