About the Job
The Human Resources (HR) function at CHOP is integral to the enterprise. None of the ambitious strategies CHOP has launched in clinical care, education and research can succeed without the right people. To do the best work in support of children's health, CHOP needs the best people and the best talent acquisition infrastructure. The Senior Director HR Technology is the head of Human Resources Technology and accountable for thought leadership, strategic planning, structural design, operational excellence, and tactical execution to leverage systems and technology to realize CHOP's potential.

The Senior Director HR Technology provides leadership on all aspects of HR technology vision, strategy, architecture, data and analytics, reporting, and governance in support of accomplishing strategic objectives, critical imperatives, and regulatory requirements. Serves as key advisor to HR executives providing counsel on HR technology, market insights, and leading practices spanning the full spectrum of HR related technology platforms.

Beyond leading the HR Technology team, this leader will be adept at building trusted partnerships with management and internal clients. The Senior Director HR Technology will be a business savvy and solution oriented, skilled in project/resource/change management in relation to human capital systems. The leader will have exceptional skills leading high performing, highly engaged teams as well as developing infrastructure and scalable, reliable processes to run efficiently.

Reporting to the Vice President Human Resources, the Senior Director HR Technology will lead an experienced team which works across the organization to leverage high technology for a high touch experience in support of CHOP's mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and operational needs.

What you will do

  • Accountable for strategy, deployment, operations, vendor management, governance and compliance for ~50 distinct HR applications with over 300 integration points, supporting a 30,000K workforce.

    • Manages 5 - 8 major capital projects per year.

  • Collaborates within Human Resources and with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders throughout the enterprise to:

    • Develop, manage, coach, motivate a high performing team of 10 - 15 people with operating budget of ~$4M. Continue to grow team's consultative skills; evolve team into agile, trusted business partners. Perform general management duties including (but not limited to): budgeting and expense, performance & productivity, reporting, and compliance.

    • Active member of the HR Community of Practice. Build and maintain relationships with key leaders across CHOP; be recognized as a thought leader, and trusted advisor.

    • Collaborate with Digital Technology Services, Finance, and others to assess, select, implement, and leverage enterprise systems. Represent HR on steering committees and governance bodies. Manage and refine reliable, scalable infrastructure for optimal candidate, employee, and manager experiences.

    • Accountable for HR footprint including support model, internal/external integrations, managing third-party relationships and vendors. Ensure return on investment for HR related systems. Accountable for domain security, governance, data definitions, integrity, quality, reporting, analytics. Influences data-driven decision making.

    • Directs program management, resource management, and project management. Ensure strong product ownership and effective release of features and functionality, user experience to address operational needs.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Human Resource Information Professional (HRIP) - IHRIM - - Preferred or

  • Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) - HRCI - - Preferred or

  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) - Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) - - Preferred or

  • Project Management Certification (PMP) - Project Management Institute - - Preferred

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Information Technology or related field Required

  • Master's Degree Business Administration or Information Technology Preferred

Experience

  • At least ten (10) years progressively increasing responsibility as a functional and technical subject matter expert in Information Technology or Human Resources Information technology within large, a complex organization Required

  • At least seven (7) years progressive leadership experience in a large, complex organization Required

  • Healthcare or related experience Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Systems thinker with strong understanding of our human capital systems accelerate achievement of CHOP's goals. Thought leader with a pulse on market trends and leading practices.

  • Influencer with strong interpersonal, communication, and change management skills. Relationship builder and collaborator who can inspire teams to deliver against aggressive goals.

  • Innovative and tech forward with experience in leveraging basic and intelligent automation to improve productivity and outcomes. Proficient with candidate relationship management, applicant tracking, and other HR information systems. Adept with data and analytics.

  • HR Cloud Software Expertise (e.g. Workday, SAP, SuccessFactors, ServiceNow HR Service Delivery, Hyland Document Management, Phenom People, etc.) including application support, systems administration, configuration, and security administration

  • HR domain knowledge and experience

  • Proficiency using MS Office applications including MS Access, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

  • Project management skills, knowledge, and experience to effectively interact and collaborate successfully with all levels

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs, leveraging agile methodology

  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of stakeholder trust and confidence

  • Ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems that involve remote and elusive symptoms, often spanning multiple environments in a business area

  • Management experience with leading multi-disciplined, high performance work teams

  • Developing and monitoring delivery of efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems

  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask with composure and resilience

  • Effective negotiation skills

  • Ability to handle ambiguity well

  • Ability to exercise independent judgement to handle all types of situations

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
