Assistant Managing Editor, Tor

The Assistant Managing Editor will support the Managing Editor team for Tor Publishing Group in list management and scheduling. The person
in this role will be responsible for processing CIP applications, setting up Print-on-Demand titles in our title management system, processing and
reviewing backlist reprint corrections, and testing, vetting, and onboarding new freelancers. Additional requirement will include management of
15-25 frontlist titles per year comprised of paperback conversions and hardcover originals and resets. Must be detail-oriented problem-solver with
excellent spelling and grammar. Must be experienced with digital workflows. Familiarity with and interests in fantasy, SF, horror, and romantasy
titles a plus.

What you'll do:



  • Support the managing editor with title lists across all Tor Publishing Group imprints, assisting with overflow, including attending and occasionally running the weekly status meetings
  • Manage 15-25 front list titles from manuscript transmittal through final files to press
  • Liaise with reprints department and comanage errata and corrections approval process
  • Process CIP applications
  • Set up Print-on-Demand titles in our title management system
  • Test, vet, and onboard new freelancers


What you'll bring:



  • Outstanding project management skills, including ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple ongoing projects
  • Communicate in professional and timely manner with key stakeholders on scheduling, prioritization, and project status
  • Excellent knowledge of grammar and punctuation, including familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Track Changes in Word and Acrobat PDF markup tools


Ideal Experience:



  • Copyediting and proofreading experience
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Reader Tools and Google Applications. RSuite and Biblio title management experience ideal but not required
  • 3+ years of experience as a production editor or project manager
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience


This role will have an annual salary of $55,000 - $60,000.
