The Benderson Family Heart Center at Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a student intern for the summer of 2025. The intern will work with the International Kawasaki Disease Registry (IKDR) team and under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), Audrey Dionne, MD. The goal of the IKDR is to improve outcomes and understanding of the diagnosis of Kawasaki Disease.

This is a paid, full-time internship for a college student currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program. The intern is expected to work 40 hours per week over a 12-week period, starting in late May through mid-to-late August. This is a hybrid role, but the IKDR Team enthusiastically supports working on-site.

Primary responsibilities of the Summer Intern:

  • Completes medical record reviews for patients with Kawasaki Disease that have been seen at Boston Children's Hospital.
  • Collects clinical data as instructed, including Echocardiogram data, laboratory data, medications, hospital admission/discharge data, and more.
  • Enters clinical data into to the IKDR Database (REDCap).
  • Works closely with Clinical Research Manager and PI to ensure deadlines are met and progress communicated to the primary IKDR site.
  • Participates in team meetings.
  • Maintains research records as required.

To qualify for this internship, candidates must:

  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program.
  • A background in university-level science courses is preferred.
  • Follow written and oral instructions, and work under general supervision.
  • Have excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office and Zoom/Microsoft Teams, and the ability to learn protocol-specific software and web-based data capture systems (i.e., RedCap).
