Manager, EPIC Patient Access Systems

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the daily oversight of a BMC Epic functional team: Prelude/Grand Central and Cadence. This includes implementation, development, maintenance, training and support. This role would include application planning and team management of analysts responsible for the assigned applications. Lead the efforts of the team of Senior Applications Analysts and the Application Analysts. Collaborate with Boston Medical Center staff, vendors, ITS colleagues and other stakeholders to identify user requirements, access available applications and technologies, develop detailed specifications, and evaluate and recommend solution options. Act as oversight to Epic implementation for the functional areas and work with clinical steering committees towards this goal.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Understands BMC's business goals and objectives, and client business needs. Knows how to use IT processes to ensure appropriate solutions are implemented. Contribute to the development of annual application strategies, budgets and plans.
  • Maintains a current detailed understanding of strategic business initiatives and how they relate to IT goals and objectives. Ensures that as projects are implemented, BMC strategic initiatives are among the constant drivers and project guidelines.
  • Demonstrates strong multitasking skills displaying the ability to manage staff, many tasks and daily operation. Responsible for ensuring excellent customer service. Provide direction to Senior Application Analysts and Application Analysts.
  • Manage project resources, both human and monetary. Identify resources short falls and communicate with Director. Make recommendations for staffing changes or enhancements where appropriate. Allocate project resources appropriately for cost effective implementations and application utilization.
  • Manage and encourage inter-Information Technology Services relationships and collaboration. Facilitate and integrate intra-departmental activities. Ensure applications and projects meet BMC technical requirements and constraints.
  • Maintain strong business relationships with vendors who partner with BMC to provide systems and solutions to meet the needs of our end users.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE:


  • At least seven years work experience minimum in business application design, development, and installation, or significant health care background with demonstrated abilities in the applications arena.
  • Minimum three years leadership experience, with project management, staff and budgetary responsibilities.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Strong software and application knowledge with base knowledge of relevant technologies, operating systems. Experience with the design, development and implementation of new technical architectures.
  • Epic Revenue Cycle Management knowledge and certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with ability to work with multi-departmental teams and peers.
  • Strong demonstrated project management skills, from vision through implementation. Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills
  • Ability to be part of a cross-departmental and cross-functional team, and participate in the organization and execution of projects.
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills, ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams, development and implementation of applications.
  • Comfort with a variety of technologies and operating systems. Ability to quickly become familiar with new technologies as needed.
  • Travel for Epic training is required.
