Job Summary:

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience and expertise in waters of the US delineations (including wetland), jurisdictional determinations, and Section 404 permitting. Candidates will have the ability to oversee field teams, QAQC data, and develop technical reports. Additionally, Section 404 knowledge sufficient to guide clients through the development process will be required. Projects may occur throughout the US, focusing mainly on western US. This position will be primarily office work but may require short field visits with travel and overnight stays.Additional roles may include general environmental planning and consulting, overseeing staff in support of wetland and biological surveys, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams of biologists, resource specialists, and other technical and non-technical staff to fulfill scopes of work. Depending on the candidate, some client and agency interaction may be required.

Responsibilities include:



  • Plan and oversee Waters of the US and wetland delineation project work.
  • Understanding of wetland and water resources, and potential jurisdictional status.
  • Experience working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Manage and support tasks related to natural resource field studies (e.g., wildlife inventory, habitat mapping, etc.).
  • Write technical reports that meet client and regional agency standards.
  • Communication with Project managers and field biologists to execute project work.
  • Train and mentor junior level staff.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure WEST standards and client requirements are met.
  • Support day-to-day administration of projects.
  • Market WEST's capabilities, prepare scopes of work, budget estimates, and respond to proposal requests.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses:



  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in biological studies, natural resources, wildlife management, wildlife biology or equivalent.
  • Ten plus (10+) years of experience in consulting and environmental work, specifically in environmental planning.
  • Prior people management experience is a plus.
  • Broad-scale biological and environmental planning knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Good leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively supervise and motivate others.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions from managers and accept guidance and constructive criticism.



After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST's minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver's license will be required.
