Job Summary
In partnership with Inflight, Flight Ops and Labor Relations, the Sr Contract Strategy Advisor within Crew Scheduling supports the contract lifecycle for our Pilots and Flight Attendants through analysis, thought leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration with other Crew Scheduling SMEs. This role is responsible for communicating Crew Scheduling background, insights, and recommendations regarding critical and complex issues involving Crew Scheduling during Pilot & Flight Attendant contract negotiations. In addition, this role is responsible for ensuring context from negotiations and existing agreements is conveyed to all Teams working to implement new or updated agreements.

Responsibilities
Provide Executive presentations and explanations on complex issues regarding Crew Scheduling's impact on the Pilot and/or Flight Attendant workforce Partner with Planning & Implementation Consultants to support the development of Executive Leadership education and alignment materials related to Crew Scheduling concerns affecting Pilot and Flight Attendant contracts Partner with Planning & Implementation Consultants to support development of analytical illustrations, insights, and other material in support of contract negotiation, revision, and implementation Partner with Data Analysts to ensure that assertions and perspectives are supported through data-driven insights that align with Operational experience Provide guidance to Crew Scheduling Leadership on strategic objectives, as well as input for Governance, Executive, and other Company Leader alignment discussions Understand the strategic objectives of the Crew Scheduling department to ensure contract-related work is prioritized accordingly Maintain awareness of ongoing changes in the airline industry and the economy that impact Pilots and Flight Attendants, especially as it relates to how Southwest operates the Crew Network Collaborate to ensure alignment with colleagues across Crew Scheduling, Inflight, Flight Ops, Labor Relations, Technology, and other departments as necessary Support the correct and timely implementation of all contract revisions through advice and counsel May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expert knowledge of the Southwest Airlines Crew Operation as well as existing Pilot and/or Flight Attendant contracts Knowledge of the business and management principles involved in strategic planning & negotiation Knowledge of techniques used to implement new business processes, roles, and tools in support of contract revisions Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather facts, conduct analysis, and translate analytical insights into strategic advisory Demonstrates flexibility to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment Ability to foster conditions that enable Cohearts to contribute positively to a Team environment that promotes sharing, collaboration, and accountability Strong ability to brainstorm approaches to solving complex issues, including using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to solving problems Strong ability to advocate positions supported with facts and analysis Strong organizational skills - skills that are required to collect, catalog, synthesize, and restate highly complex information over a long timeframe Strong ability to collaborate with Strategy Consultants to design Executive presentation materials
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Expert level experience, expansive and far-reaching knowledge in:
- Southwest Airlines Crew Operations
- Reading, interpreting, and advising on labor contracts
- Developing & presenting education and alignment facilitation material
- Advising Leaders on complex topics in simple and effective ways
- Labor Relations, Labor Strategy, Labor Analytics, and/or Labor Negotiations
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
- Air travel with frequent overnight stays required
Pay & Benefits
- Competitive market salary from $122,200 - $135,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
