Accounts Payable Manager

Summary:

We are looking for an organized Accounts Payable Manager to provide strong leadership to our accounts payable department and to ensure that the department runs smoothly. The Accounts Payable Manager's responsibilities include maintaining accurate records regarding payments to suppliers, processing payments from clients, training staff members, and monthly recommendations for expense accruals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing routine department activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time
  • Maintaining accurate and complete financial, employee, and client records
  • Compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial information to management and government agencies
  • Negotiating terms with vendors
  • Managing system testing and implementation activities related to AP activities
  • Setting and facilitating the achievement of department objectives
  • Developing, implementing, improving, and enforcing budgets, policies, and department controls to increase accuracy and efficiency
  • Building and maintaining relationships with employees, clients, vendors, and lenders
  • Hiring, training, motivating, and evaluating accounts payable staff members
  • Preparation of monthly expense accruals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and/or AA degree
  • 5 years' experience managing the accounts payable function strongly preferred; management experience required
  • 5+ years' experience performing high-level/complex accounts payable responsibilities required
  • This position is onsite in a lab

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, business management, or related field
  • 8 years' experience managing the accounts payable function strongly preferred; management experience required

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and management principles and accounts payable procedures
  • Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation
  • Proficiency with computers, especially business solutions such as ERP systems, Microsoft Word and Excel including pivot tables and lookups.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, organized, and flexibility
  • Motivation to develop and maintain internal and external relationships
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills including follow-through ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with the ability to use good judgement
  • Ability to analyze information and processes
  • Implementing and monitoring internal controls to prevent errors or fraud in AP operations
  • Supervising and mentoring the AP team, providing training and performance evaluations
  • Collaborating with other departments to streamline payment processes and manage cash flow efficiently
  • Team-oriented and collaborative to work with the accounting team
  • Goal oriented

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
