This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 9-months.




Job Summary:



This is a temporary position that is exempt from the sate classified system based on 100% funding from gifts, grants or auxiliaries. Positions have limited duration work assignments in accordance with university and campus policies and are not part of the regular staffing pattern for the organization. Appointments are limited to 9 months of continuous employment with a 4 month break OR 9 months of employment in any 12 month period.

The Division of Rheumatology is seeking an organized, detail-oriented self-driven individual for a temporary, full-time position (40 hours/week, up to 9 months) to help the Division's administrative team in performing research and financial transactions related to our research and grants portfolio, as well as other administrative duties related to the operations of the division. This 1.0 FTE position is based at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. This Temporary Research & Admin Support Staff position will be responsible for helping with sponsored projects, post award transactions, and administrative support, including but not limited to event coordinating and other office related duties. The successful candidate will be a productive member of the division and will have an opportunity to work with our faculty and staff.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Help update junior faculty sponsor program accounts monthly and participate in account update meetings with funded faculty.
  • Provide Business Services Specialist and Division Administrator support in post award transactions, such as assisting with the completion and timely submission of ePERs forms, payroll expense transfers (PETs), and journal entries (JEs).
  • Help prepare salary budgets by utilizing employee compensation rates, appropriate fringe benefit rates, and respond to questions from research staff.
  • Provide assistance in preparing and submitting all subcontracts, applicable standing purchase orders, and amendments for sponsored projects.
  • Reviews all expenditures to ensure that division researchers adhere to institutional policies and procedures, as well as to all applicable federal, state, and sponsor rules and regulations.
  • Supports the Division's administrative team, including but not limited to event coordinating, office supply ordering, calendar management, and other back up tasks.
  • Participate with other team members in the development of practices and procedures in areas in need of development/improvement.



Work Location:



Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • A bachelor's degree

    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.




Preferred Qualifications:



  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, human resources, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) year of professional level experience business administration, research administration or finance experience.
  • Previous experience working for an academic medical center, particularly in administrative and faculty program support.
  • Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping and journal entries.
  • Experience with University of Colorado systems.
  • Experience with financial and accounting concepts.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize duties.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software projects.
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects and with a variety of constituencies.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The hiring rate for this position has been established at $25-$30 / hour. The above salary rate represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate at the time of posting.

Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Temporary employees are only eligible for sick leave benefits.
