Job Description

General Summary:

We are seeking an occupational health nurse director to oversee and implement a progressive occupational health program for a world-class biotechnology firm. The nurse is responsible for occupational health services that support research including OSHA programs related to occupational health, worker compensation, and employee health and wellbeing. You will assist Site Team Leads with oversight of health programs. In addition, Vertex supports various employee clinic programs and onsite employee care. We seek a highly engaged individual who can align global programs and deliver superior care to our employees.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee occupational health program to continue to offer the best-in-class service to both management and employees
  • Expand the clinic model for employee services with the Benefits team
  • Oversee OSHA Recordkeeping for a global company including analysis of injury trends and reporting on a quarterly basis
  • Manage relationship with third party occupational health suppliers.
  • OSHA Respiratory Protection Program
  • Ergonomic Assessments
  • Flu Vaccination Clinic management for all US locations
  • Employee & Management Consults
  • Management & Coordination of multi-location blood drives
  • Management & Coordination of CPR and First Aid Training
  • Manage & review Medical Emergency Response for all global locations

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Clinical skills with the ability to critically assess patients and deliver optimal care
  • Case Management experience
  • Working knowledge of Workers' Compensation in multiple states
  • Current Registered Nurse license for Massachusetts California and Rhode Island or being willing to obtain the license
  • Ability to advocate for the employee while considering business needs
  • Leadership and project management skills
  • Rapport-building experience which will lead to improved collaboration and outcomes with our partners
  • Strong team player demonstrating the ability to learn and responsive to feedback

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Typically requires 10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ER and/or hospital nursing experience required
  • Master of Nursing or Nurse Practitioner's degree (preferred)
  • COHNS (Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist)
  • CEES (Certified Ergonomic Evaluation Specialist)

Pay Range:

$174,400 - $261,600

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
