Field Support Technician Gromelski and Associates, Inc. (GAI) partners with prime contractors to provide professional services. Field Support Technician Job Description: Performs duties as a Field Support Technician on a team that provides technical and operational support on the waterfront for the operation and administration of complex IT infrastructure that includes thin/thick-clients, domain servers and databases. Typical duties will include backups; configuration management services; system patching; system monitoring, system diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair; tech refresh and upgrades; technical meetings; maintaining, configuring, and updating baseline configurations as per Risk Management Framework (RMF)/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements. The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Level Clearance. Field Support Technician Required Tasks: * Responds to customer request for field assistance and responds to customer locations to troubleshoot and repair IT related systems and provide maintenance training to customer service representative if required. * Utilizes Linux, Windows, and other operating systems as needed to maintain infrastructure operation. * Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. * Performs set up of administrator accounts and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate storage space. * Interacts with users and may be asked to evaluate vendor products. * Makes recommendations to purchase repair parts, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. * Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. * Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Field Support Technician Required Skills: * Demonstrated Field Support Technician skills and abilities in providing troubleshooting and/or assistance needed to maintenance and upkeep hardware and to install and/or upgrade system software. * Ability to plan and follow schedules with little oversight or direction. * Demonstrated teamwork and Full Spectrum Leadership capabilities. * Ability to work under general supervision and communicate clearly with both peers, superiors with an energetic and friendly personality. * Excellent organizational and reporting abilities. * Effective communicator, both orally and in written form. * Ability to lift 50 pounds. * Must possess and maintain CompTIA Security+ and SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) certifications as a Level 2 IT Workforce Technician Field Support Technician Desired Skills: * Experience troubleshooting and/or configuring Windows servers to include SharePoint, and Exchange and Active Directory (MCSE/MCSA certifications a plus). * Experience with the administration and configuration of Security policies as related to both Windows and Linux servers. * Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF). * Familiarity with configuring VMs (Virtualization). * Red Hat Linux Administration. * Networking knowledge. Field Support Technician Additional Requirements: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. Minimum of five years related experience. * Minimum of five years of experience in maintaining either or both the Global Command and Control - Maritime (GCCS-M), and Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Services (CANES) systems. * Willingness to work overtime and off shift when dictated to support business needs. * The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Level Clearance which means you must be a U.S. Citizen.
