The Medical Assistant Quality Coordinatorassistsin managing quality, safety, clinical and operational projects for ambulatory practice sites andassistsleaders of Clinical Care, Quality, Safety and Education.Providesa wide range of services to multiple offices/practices with a diversity of patient populations and patient care including, but not limited to, coaching for safety, gathering needed information, collecting data outcomes, training associates, andassistingin the implementation of quality, safety, and operational projects. Clinical responsibilities include direct care associate training, competency assessment, safety event reviews/follow-up, and assessment of clinical programs and initiatives. Participatesinnewprogramsand education planning.

Primary Duties:

  • As directed, coordinates ambulatory, entity and/or systemwide quality and safety-related programs.Assess practice sites and provide updates and departmental training on goals, quality,safety,and clinical best practices, including adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards. Assistswith and trainsMAs (Medical Assistant)to create an efficient practice environment and in assuring policies and procedures are followed.

  • Assistsin the development and adherence of departmental goals,objectives, policies, and procedures. Supports the environment of care in meeting standards. Attends scheduled meetings including regular staff meetings, training classes for safety, infection prevention and control, OSHA,CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and others as directed.Assistsin coordination ofRN (Registered Nurse)andMA (Medical Assistant)extern program and acts as a mentor to new MA externs, Senior MAs, and newly hired MAs.

  • Meets with physicians, practice managers, senior team, and physician leaders as needed to addressandresolve issues related to patient care, regulatory compliance, and delivery of services. Mentors staff by aligning with the mission and values of the organization. Fosters staff development. Coaches associate based on individual strengths and developmental needs. Serves as a positive role model. Mentors MAs in career path development and advancement to Senior MA.

  • Participates in the development and teaching of ambulatory educational programs, including online training,orientation, learning workshops, and other initiatives across MedStar Health ambulatory practices. Rounds at the sites for quality and safety. Prepares sites for andparticipatesin external reviews by the State, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory or accrediting groups.Providestraining and assessment of lab waived testing competency, certification, documentation, and adherence to related regulatory standards. Serves as a resource and connects the department to sterilization, high-level disinfectant, and infection prevention experts and initiatives.

  • Supports current evidence-based practice through training, competency, assessment, and review of the literature. Conducts surveys that pertain to quality, safety, infection prevention and control, and regulatory standards (site audits); reports any unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions to the office manager and director.Assistssite leaders in resolving identified concerns and with the development of improvement action plans.Reassesspractice changes for efficacy and sustainability. Supports development, implementation and evaluation of clinical care protocols, safety, and quality best practices across the ambulatory care settings.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Completion of a recognized medical assistant program.

  • Associate's degreepreferred.

  • 3-4 years CMA/RMA experiencewith2 years working in a medical office or ambulatory health care environment;or1-2 years CMA/RMA Supervisory role experiencewith2 years working in a medical office or ambulatory health care environment.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by American Association of Medical Assistants.

  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

  • BLS (Basic Life Support).
