About the Job

Summary of Position

The Dorr Lab uses Pharmacogenomics, Spatialomics, Genomics, Transcriptomics, Clinical Outcomes, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, Molecular Cellular Biology and Genetics to investigate mechanisms of kidney disease, allograft complications, Indigenous health and precision medicine.

Our team is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to establish a new lab with an optimistic lab culture. The immediate need is for cell line engineering (CRISPR, etc), and drug metabolism studies to investigate drug-drug and drug-gene interactions to be translated to clinic. The postdoc may investigate mechanisms of kidney disease with spatialomics, biopsies and clinical data.

This is NOT a remote position.

The postdoc will work with Dr. Dorr's multidisciplinary teams that includes nephrologists, pharmacologists, pathologists, statisticians, geneticists, bioinformaticians, and other collaborators. Dr. Dorr will mentor the Postdoctoral Fellow towards his/her long-term goals.

The position may include the following work. Experience is preferred, but not required for all:

60% Data generation in Lab:
Molecular biology techniques: PCR, molecular cloning, sequencing analysis, CRISPR, base editing, RNA extraction, RNA Seq, RT-PCR, gene cloning, cell line characterization, western blotting, E. coli transformations, plasmid preparations, and characterizations, primer design, etc.
Chemical techniques: drug dilutions, drug-drug interactions, chemical preparations and handling, drug metabolism studies, chemical reactions, making solutions, drug/chemical quantification with LC/MS or other techniques, etc.
Cell culture experience: transfections, microscopy, cryopreservation, drug metabolism assays, soft agar assays, cell viability assays, flow cytometry, passaging of cells, cell maintenance, etc.
Lab: Lab notebook and other databases, ordering supplies
Spatialomics project: work with team to assess biopsies for mechanisms of kidney diseases

20% Data Analysis and Writing
Writing: Manuscript writing, reviewing and editing grants for the PI, make figures and tables
