DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will ensure that all revenue due to the Commonwealth is assessed, billed, and collected in accordance with established state, federal, and departmental policies and laws. In this role, you will be working with billing software and Microsoft Office. You can expect to provide consultative services regarding medical billing and reimbursements related to Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, Medicare Part D, Medicaid, Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly (PACE), private insurance, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' (USDVA) catastrophic disability and aide/attendance benefits. You will maintain ongoing knowledge of billing for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance, as well as familiarity with MDS (Minimum Data Set). Additionally, you will travel to assigned homes to review procedures, provide guidance and training, and audit reimbursement activities. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work Site: Location will be determined from one of the following, based on preference of selected candidate:
- Delaware Valley Veterans' Home (Philadelphia County)
- Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center (Lackawanna County)
- Headquarters (Lebanon County)
- Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home (Blair County)
- Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home (Erie County)
- Southeastern Veterans' Center (Chester County)
- Southwestern Veterans' Center (Allegheny County)
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per 10-day pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office based on your location.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Facility Reimbursement Officer (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six years of experience involving public contact in billing and collecting financial accounts or debts which includes one year of supervisory experience in billing and collecting financial accounts or debts; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of supervisory experience in billing and collecting financial accounts or debts. Completion of college-level work with major course work in business administration, finance, accounting, health care management, or a related field may be substituted for required non-supervisory experience on a year-for-year basis.
Special Requirement:
- All positions in the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs require valid accreditation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a veterans service officer or eligibility for accreditation within one year from the date of employment.
Other Requirements:
- You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap. You must also maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once it is issued.
- You must obtain and maintain a Commonwealth approved, valid medical billing certification within one year from the date of employment.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
