THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is looking to hire a Park Maintenance Supervisor 2 for a position located in Cambria County. This role involves overseeing a team of maintenance and trades personnel who are responsible for the construction, upkeep, and restoration of facilities within Prince Gallitzin State Park. The supervisor will primarily focus on ensuring the proper maintenance of all buildings, roads, facilities, and equipment throughout the park. Do not miss the opportunity to apply today!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for planning and organizing the maintenance program for the park, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will delegate tasks to your team members, either verbally or in writing, to facilitate the effective functioning of the park. It will be your duty to review the work completed by your subordinates to ensure it aligns with the assigned tasks. Collaborating closely with the Park Manager, you will also be involved in creating work schedules for maintenance staff. Additionally, you will evaluate and either approve or deny leave requests from your team. Performance assessments, employee development plans, and position descriptions for all supervised employees will be prepared annually and discussed with them by the designated deadlines. You will monitor the budget for maintenance projects and communicate any financial requirements to the park manager. Furthermore, you will review the work of project contractors, ensuring compliance with blueprints and specifications, while coordinating significant projects with the Bureau of Facility Design & Construction. A solid understanding of DEP regulations regarding water and wastewater treatment operations is essential, as you will supervise licensed operators in these areas and are encouraged to obtain and maintain the necessary certifications to serve as a backup operator when needed. You will also be responsible for maintaining Sandy Run and Glendale Dams in accordance with DCNR/DEP standards. Daily time sheets must be accurately maintained by employees, and you will ensure that this information is relayed to the office staff for payroll processing. Tracking special funding initiatives, such as Key 93 projects and snowmobile projects, will also fall under your purview. You will oversee the daily mileage logs for vehicle usage to comply with DGS requirements and ensure that monthly entries are made in the DGS M-5 system. In addition, you will instruct your team on the proper use of tools and enforce adherence to all safety standards. Lastly, you will oversee the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program, ensuring compliance with all regional, bureau, and departmental regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Weekends, holidays and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Park Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Five years of semi-skilled maintenance or construction experience in two of the following: electrical trades, plumbing trades, carpentry trades, mechanical trades, water or wastewater treatment plant operations, or the operation of small and medium size construction or agricultural equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
