Compensation: $3,200 per course / per quarter

Position Summary

The College of Health Profession's Online Programs, the Departments of Population Health and Administration, Nutrition, Lifestyle Medicine, and Interprofessional Healthcare Studies which includes a PhD in interprofessional healthcare studies and a graduate program in Health Professions Education, anticipate the future need and invite applications to be considered for the positions of Adjunct Lecturer to teach in their online courses at the graduate level and certificate programs. Position requires the lecturer to be a healthcare professional or health professions educator and content expert in the topic of the particular course assigned. Please see the Required Education & Experience section below for specific requirements for each program. The positions require developing and presenting material in the department approved online format as well as assessing student performance. The lecturer will also advise students on their progress in the course and program based upon program expectations and interact with other program faculty and administrators related to program matters.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Teach online courses in area of content expertise as listed under Required Education and Experience section of this posting. Edit course materials as required to keep course content current. Facilitate and evaluate student learning in the online environment. Advise students as needed related to progress in the program or courses. Keep the program director appraised of any matters related to student performance, progress or course delivery

Required Education & Experience

Nutrition

  • Masters degree in nutrition or a closely related healthcare field AND Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential.
  • Related employment experience in nutrition education or clinical nutrition.
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check

Interprofessional Healthcare Studies - Statistics

  • Doctoral degree or clinical doctorate in a healthcare field that requires licensure or certification
  • Related employment experience in a healthcare field that included research
  • At least one year experience teaching graduate level degree courses in statistics (biostatistics preferred)
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check

Health Professions Education

  • Clinical doctorate or terminal doctoral degree in a healthcare field and appropriate licensure. Examples include RN, DPT, PA, DNP, PharmD, DSc, PhD, etc.
  • At least one year of related employment experience teaching health professions content to pre-licensure students
  • Must have sound basis in learning theories and adult learning principles
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check

Population Health and Administration - includes Healthcare Administration

  • A PhD or Doctorate in either Public Health or Health Services Administration.
  • In place of a doctorate, the following credentials will be considered only with additional substantive professional experience * Medical doctor degree (MD/DO) or Advanced Practice Nursing degree (DNP) with emphasis in Medical Informatics or with an accompanying Master of Science degree in Public Health (MPH) of Healthcare Administration
  • Experience in leadership of health services administration or public health
  • At least one year of higher education teaching experience in healthcare administration or public health

Lifestyle Medicine

  • Clinical doctoral degree or terminal doctoral degree in a healthcare field. Examples include MD, DPT, OTD, DNP, DSc, PhD, EdD, PharmD, etc.
  • Related experience in lifestyle medicine as it applies to lifestyle medicine patient education and/or clinical practice.
  • Experience in academic teaching of lifestyle medicine.
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge of and experience with content of courses as assigned. Ability to develop and teach course content related to area of expertise as specified in the Required Education & Experience section of this posting. Strong communication skills in the virtual environment. Ability to utilize technology and online learning management systems required for teaching. Experience with student performance assessment in the online environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Nutrition

  • Doctoral degree AND Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential
  • Previous higher education online teaching experience in the field of nutrition.
  • Experience with student performance assessment in the online environment.

Interprofessional Healthcare Studies

  • Doctoral degree with experience in research and related professional credentials
  • At least one year of online higher education teaching experience focused in biostatistics, research design, methods, and theories that include measurement theory, and practices for conducting research.

for health professions

  • Background teaching, researching or clinical practice in interprofessional healthcare theory, education and practice.
  • Experience with student performance assessment in the online environment

Population Health and Administration - includes Healthcare Administration

  • A PhD or Doctorate in either Public Health or Health Services Administration.
  • At least one year of online higher education teaching experience in healthcare administration or public health
  • Experience with student performance assessment in the online environment.
  • Work experience in healthcare administration or public health

Lifestyle Medicine

  • Doctoral degree with clinical experience practicing or teaching lifestyle medicine and hold related healthcare professional credentials
  • Previous online teaching experience.
  • Experience with student performance assessment in the online environment.
  • American College of Lifestyle Medicine Board Certification
