The Machine Shop Clerk is responsible for cleaning, maintenance, organization, parts & tool ordering, and preparing components to support development, fabrication, repairs, and adjustments for equipment used by Engineering, Production, Quality, and R&D.
The Machine Shop Clerk will have responsibility to aide in producing machined parts by setting up, cleaning, and maintaining a machine shop and machine shop assets.
As appropriate, the Machine Shop Clerk will create the drawings, documents, and records in accordance with Penumbra's Quality System.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
* Clean, organize and upkeep a shop workspace
* Clean and maintain shop tools and equipment including manual and CNC machines Maintain Machine Shop Schedule including planning, tracking, updating job status, reschedule jobs, and associated communication
* Support machine shop including procurement of tooling and material, and performing preventative maintenance of machine shop equipment
* Assemble equipment and fixtures used in Production and R&D* * Load, unload, and set up tooling for machining operations
* Saw-cut, prepare, and deburr parts
* Pickup and deliver packages, parts, components, raw material, and other items to shipping, customers, and others.
* Work independently to solve practical problems encountered
* Adhere to the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.
* Understand relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.
* Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures. * * Plan machine shop work by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters while interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
* Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including documentation skills.
* Proficiency with standard office software tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS office suite programs.
* Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various tasks simultaneously
* High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
* Proven ability to program, maintain, and operate machine shop equipment, preferably to build parts used in the medical device industry.
* Ability to translate blueprints, drawings, and ideas into the code required to program CNC mills using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software
* Use machining equipment
Working Conditions
* General shop, laboratory and office environments
* Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
* Requires regular lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
* Requires occasional climbing on ladders up to 12 feet.
* Willingness and ability to work on site.
* May have business travel from 0% - 10%
* Must be able to move between buildings and floors.
* Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day.
* Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets.
* Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed.
* Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.
Base Pay Range Per Hour: $25.00 - $44.00
Individual compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, work location and shift, and will increase over time based on meeting performance and business needs.
