We are seeking an Accounting Manager - Acquisitions to join a $1.4B company as an impact player, subject matter expert and as an Acquisitions Accounting process owner. Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, this role is responsible for leading the acquisition accounting, due diligence, and integration efforts for approximately 10-20 business acquisitions per year.
Your Impact
Coordinate and oversee
all accounting and finance due diligence and integration activities from initial diligence kickoff through successful acquisition integration for Patient Care and Products & Services acquisitions. Ensure timely and thorough completion of tasks across various finance and accounting teams (10+ departments).
- Cultivate relationships and interface with internal groups (e.g., M&A, other accounting departments, FP&A, Real Estate, Tax) and external financial statement auditors to facilitate and lead acquisition accounting, due diligence, and integration.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to scale the acquisition program effectively.
- Manage the acquisition accounting process from initial recording of purchase accounting entries through monitoring acquired assets and liabilities during the remeasurement period.
- Lead annual evaluations of key accounting estimates associated with the acquisition process, including goodwill impairment and realizability of intangible assets.
- Coordinate with the Controller and Director of SEC Reporting on accounting and reporting requirements for all acquisitions.
- Conduct technical research as needed to support acquisition accounting and integration activities.
- Review month-end and quarter-end close journal entries related to acquisitions.
- Supervise and review the work of a Senior Staff Accountant.
- Contribute to the development and education of accounting staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Master's degree in accounting preferred
Additional Success Factors
- 4-7 years of related acquisition accounting experience, including supervisory experience
- Previous experience developing the framework for department collaboration on acquisition accounting, due diligence and integration.
- Strong technical GAAP knowledge and prior experience with accounting for:
- Previous experience designing and implementing process improvements.
- Analytical and problem solving skills with excellent verbal and written skills, including Excel.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to quickly develop working relationships across teams and to communicate both up and down the Corporate hierarchy.
- Big 4 experience is a plus.
- Healthcare industry experience a plus.
