Description

Are you looking for a dynamic opportunity working with analytical instrumentation? Does the idea of working with people from a wide variety of industries excite you? Rigaku Americas, a leading worldwide supplier of Analytical X-ray Instrumentation, is seeking an Applications Scientist for our X-Ray Fluorescence Applications Laboratory in The Woodlands, Texas. The XRF Applications Lab is responsible for a wide array of Wavelength Dispersive and Energy Dispersive XRF instrumentation and work with customers in all types of industries.

We are looking for a candidate that would enjoy assisting sales personnel and customers in determining ideal instrumentation to address customer needs, demonstrate instrument capabilities for potential customers, train customers on instrumentation, and aid in supporting current customer needs.



  • Prepare various materials using a variety of analytical methods and tools for analysis
  • Develop projects to meet customer's analytical needs
  • Record, evaluate, interpret, and summarize technical data in reports, memos, and other documents
  • Demonstrate the use and application of both WDXRF and EDXRF instrumentation at customer sites and remotely
  • Create documentation that demonstrates the effectiveness of the instrumentation for various applications
  • Provide technical pre-sales and post-sales support for Rigaku's North, Central, and South American customer base and sales personnel
  • Produce materials for and host internal and external trainings relating to XRF methods and experimental techniques including training customers on instrument usage and care
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, Service, and Business Development Teams on documentation, presentations, projects, trouble-shooting, and various associated tasks
  • Ensure customer satisfaction throughout all stages of the pre-sales & post-sales processes
  • Understand and comply with good laboratory practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and other company policies and procedures
  • Travel up to 50% of the time with some overnight stays to visit, train, and support customers

Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • 3 - 5 years strong analytical chemistry experience.
  • Ability to prioritize various workstreams concurrently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and internationally
  • Experience with teaching, leading, and guiding others a plus
  • Experience with WDXRF or EDXRF instrumentation a plus
  • Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish is a plus
