Our Team

At our Pine Bend refinery, Digital Maintenance Technicians are recognized as subject matter experts (SMEs) regarding the specification, installation, maintenance, configuration, life-cycle management, reliability/availability, troubleshooting, upgrade, and the best practices of PLC/DCS application in current use in the plant and as recommended by the vendor and industry. Our Digital Maintenance Technicians apply their knowledge and talents while collaborating daily with Board Operators, Process Control Engineers, IT Engineers, and Project Engineers, their design teams, and project stakeholders to achieve business-focused results. As a member of the Digital Maintenance Team, you will be required to participate as a member of the Digital On-Call rotation schedule to cover after-hour troubleshooting/repair activities.

What You Will Do

  • Support the PLC and DCS hardware at the refinery, with a primary focus on PLC Administration
  • Support PLC and DCS Upgrade Projects
  • Support networking of devices
  • Control System Maintenance: - The troubleshooting and repair of PLC/DCS equipment in the refinery - Replacing faulty cards, CPUs, power supplies, etc. - Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and correcting PLC/DCS communication problems - Minor PLC logic or HMI (human-machine interface) graphics programming for modifications to existing software
  • Control System Network Communications - The troubleshooting and analysis of communication system issues, preventative maintenance scheduling and development of reliability strategies

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience with PLC and DCS maintenance and configuration experience in a chemical plant or petroleum refinery or similar
  • Experience using industrial plant automation/control systems hardware and software in automation and process control applications
  • Experience with networking protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and HART in industrial control system applications
  • Experience with programming documentation processes and procedures
  • Experience with engineering documents associated with PLC/DCS and digital equipment such as electrical drawings, logic drawings, P&IDs, Cause and Effect tables

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with PLC Administration
  • Experience with the Allen-Bradley family of PLCs, Triconex systems, GE, Wonderware HMI software
  • AAS in Instrumentation and Process Control Technology or Electronics
  • At least three (3) years of experience in industrial instrumentation maintenance, construction, or project design
  • Process/operations/reliability work experience in an industrial facility
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV Distributed Controls Systems (DCS)
  • Experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)Experience with asset lifecycle management
  • Experience in a union environment and working with bargaining union employees

For this role, we anticipate paying $110,000- $140,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
