Essential Functions and Primary Duties
- Support benefits consultants and senior administrators in servicing client accounts across a portfolio of mid-to-large sized businesses.
- Assist with the implementation and renewal process of group benefit plans, including preparation of materials, client data collection, and coordination with insurance carriers.
- Maintain and update benefit plan records and databases to ensure data accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA).
- Respond to client and employee inquiries regarding benefits enrollment, eligibility, claims, and coverage details in a timely and professional manner.
- Help coordinate open enrollment processes, including system setup, communication distribution, and enrollment tracking.
- Conduct audits of enrollment and billing data to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, and support issue resolution.
- Prepare benefit-related reports and analytics for internal teams and clients as requested.
- Assist with the preparation of compliance documents such as Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), Form 5500 filings, and nondiscrimination testing.
- Stay informed on industry trends, legislation, and best practices in employee benefits to support client compliance and satisfaction.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments such as payroll, finance, HRIS, and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in employee benefits administration, preferably in a brokerage, insurance, or HR consulting environment.
- Basic knowledge of group insurance products and regulatory requirements (ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA).
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with benefits administration platforms (e.g., Employee Navigator, Applied EPIC, Workday, ADP, bswift, or similar) is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Less than 3 years customer service experience in the insurance industry required
- Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
- Effective customer service skills
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Ability to work in team environment as well as independently
- Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
