Summary: This role is responsible for the strategic sourcing and procurement of assigned indirect categories including MRO (Maintenance, Repairs & Operations), consumables, capital, and facilities related services.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
Support the development and execution of sourcing strategies for indirect categories, including but not limited to MROs, lab supplies and consumables, and other indirect materials and services, while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.- Conduct market research, supplier analysis, and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Lead sourcing initiatives, including RFPs, vendor selection, contract negotiations and executions, and contract amendments.
- Prepare and execute negotiation strategies aligned with business objectives to obtain best value prices, terms, and lead times for services and goods.
- Create and review SOWS, purchase orders and change orders in Ariba.
Supplier & Contract Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to drive performance, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and service terms to ensure compliance and best-value procurement.
- Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and participate in issue resolution process with the vendors
- Build strong relationships with key suppliers and have regular communication with suppliers to ensure continuous supply of products and services.
Lead day-to-day Purchasing Activities
- Collaborate with the planning team to ensure material purchases support the manufacturing plan and established safety stock levels.
- Review and approve purchase requisitions.
- Create purchase orders and appropriately co-ordinate purchase orders for approval in compliance with company policies.
- Release purchase orders to suppliers, confirm delivery dates, routinely monitor purchase orders status to ensure supplier delivery dates are met including Purchase Order maintenance in ERP system to ensure delivery plan is accurately represented
- Communicate purchase order delays to business partners and expedite, when necessary, for deliveries to meet production requirements.
- Collaborate with Business partners to determine alternative materials/sources to improve quality and/or availability.
- Maintain vendor master list in ERP system, lead times, and ensure appropriate documentation.
- Analyze outstanding purchase orders continuously to ensure proper vendor payment.
- Work closely with the Accounts Payable department and internal customers to ensure timelines of vendor payments and resolutions of problem PO's/Invoices.
- Sourcing, approval, and procurement of new materials, components, and services.
- Deliver procurement value including all agreed upon cost savings and cost avoidance goals.
- Develop a strong partnership with business leads to understand business needs and to align on objectives and timelines.
- Provide timely communications to business partners including Planning, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and R&D.
- Escalate critical issues to site leadership in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with business partners to identify process improvements and increase value-based initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with global policies and processes in close collaboration with Procurement Leadership.
- Ensure SOX 404 compliance for purchasing processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not have supervisory responsibilities. Interaction: Work closely with Business partners (R&D, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Operations, Quality, and Legal), Procurement team members, and suppliers.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS in Business, Supply Chain, Finance or Operations-related field preferred
- Graduate degree or MBA a plus
- APICS, CPM, and/or NAPM certificate or other procurement certificates a plus
- Strong knowledge of MRP concepts preferred
- 5+ years of procurement and planning experience including Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Spend Analytics requiredExperience in participating and leading contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost reduction strategies required
- Industry experience in cGMP areas including pharmaceutical, medical device, and/or biotechnology required
- Experience with indirect goods and services spend in a GXP environment preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills including strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems like Ariba, ESI, SAP or Oracle required

Pay Transparency
The base pay range for this role in California is $102,800 per year to $141,350 per year. The range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. The range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: geographic markets, business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications.
