Requisition Id14844 Overview: The Facilities Management Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Facilities Engineer. This position will assist FMD complexes with preventive/predictive maintenance planning and programs, facility upgrade projects, and assignments to prepare for transition into facility oversight roles. Facilities Management provides technical oversight and management of laboratory research facilities, office facilities, and structures to support the ORNL site. Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Gather asset data for equipment and work with other Facility Engineers and Complex Facilities Managers to revitalize our PM plans in our complexes and for the initial startup of new facilities. Gather vendor data on operations and maintenance for facility critical equipment. Maintain and continually improve preventive maintenance systems and processes. Attend training and conferences as needed for skillset improvement and job needs. Effectively support other Core Team and work with craft employees in a union environment. Manage projects and support large projects performed inside the complex. Write Scopes of Work for modifications and services for the facilities. Technical Project Officer for purchases, subcontracts, and services. Coordinate outside contract work for construction or repair. Knowledge of standards, codes, and regulations with respect to construction and the maintenance of equipment and facilities. Work with craft employees in a union environment. Plans and schedules maintenance activities and operational outages. Lead pre-job meetings with all stakeholders, including craft personnel, to gain commitment from all team members. Basic Qualifications:
An accredited B.S degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required. A minimum of two years of experience in facility systems, operations, and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in HVAC and their control systems, industrial piping design, and in 480 VAC 3 phase power distribution. Knowledge of standards, codes, and regulations with respect to construction and the maintenance of equipment and facilities. The ability to understand and manage technical issues related to facility infrastructure. Candidates should have strong computer skills, good interpersonal abilities, and good communication skills. Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory. Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs. Ability to work and communicate (written and oral) effectively with diverse teams of engineers, scientists, and technicians.
