Law Job Description
The University of Missouri School of Law Library seeks a Student Services and Reference Specialist who will provide excellent student services to the Law School community. The position will be a member of the Law Library's Patron Services and the Reference teams. In this role, the person we hire will engage students in many capacities, including by presenting legal research topics to law students in a variety of formats. The work schedule for this position is 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, but the final schedule is negotiable. We seek a personable, creative, and energetic candidate who will inspire and guide students in utilizing innovative library resources for their academic and work endeavors. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about legal research and resources, passionate about supporting legal education, and an excellent communicator. We hope to encourage the person in this position to become a professional law librarian and will provide tuition and fee support to the person in this position to obtain a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Missouri. 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday with flexibility as approved by supervisor Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Previous relevant experience in a law library. Demonstrated interest in law librarianship through a combination of education and relevant experience. Tech-savvy with library systems and with legal education and law practice technologies. Candidates who wish to pursue the MLIS degree will be strongly preferred but it is not a requirement of the position. Anticipated Hiring Range
