Responsibilities

The Software Project Manager will:

    Oversee activities related to the software development, design, test and delivery of system and subsystem software components
  • Drive Project Success by utilizing your project management expertise to oversee performance, scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage Change and Innovation by performing change assessments, support change boards, and manage software modifications and design for sustaining
  • Build High-Performing Teams to address emerging requirements, ensuring standardized processes and resource alignment across the project
  • Develop and Maintain Schedules by creating project schedules and resource plans to capture every step of the project lifecycle, ensuring timely and efficient execution
  • Ensure the creation of impactful artifacts by planning and reviewing essential project deliverables, such as requirements documents, verification and validation documents, architecture definition documents and test documents
  • Creating planning documents, status reports, and project briefs, to keep stakeholders informed and aligned
  • Proactively Manage Risks by identifying, assessing, and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize risks and keep projects on track
  • Facilitate Collaboration to organize and document project team meetings, fostering collaboration and alignment among stakeholders
  • Conduct Assessments by coordinating and performing thorough project evaluations to ensure goals are being met and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Strategize and Innovate by participating in management planning to optimize operations, set ambitious yet achievable goals, and redefine objectives to align with organizational priorities
  • Support Excellence by continuously looking for ways to improve processes, increase efficiency, and drive innovation
  • Additional Responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support organizational and project objectives
  • Reviewing software development and test schedules (both GFE and Maxar) to ensure integration points are aligned
  • Help identify specific scope that is included in the software drops and track progress toward those deliveries
  • Track the phased PPE emulator/simulator delivery from Maxar and work with the JSC test facilities (GRAIL, ESTL, FOD) on the capabilities of those deliveries, and the update schedule aligns with the L2 Verification plan
  • Work with the labs and Maxar to resolve any disconnects
  • As the project transitions into a Verification phase, participating in the review of software VCNs and helping to resolve any potential issues with the test methodology, or analysis or results


Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Normally possess 5-10 years of related experience
  • License and certification may be required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • A combination of advanced education and relevant experience will be considered

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • At least 5 years of software development, operations and sustaining experience
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in project management, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects successfully. (Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.)
  • Strong understanding of Project Management principles, CMMI, VersionOne, and software change management processes (preferred)
  • Requisition Preferences:
    • Experience in hardware/software development, systems engineering, or project management in the Aerospace industry
    • Certifications like PMP, Scrum Master, or similar

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed
