Overview

With headquarters in New York and Dallas, Highgate is currently seeking a Paralegal with corporate, transactional, and/or litigation law firm experience to work with our dynamic in-house team of attorneys and paralegals. This role is based out of our New York office. The candidate will provide support to the firm's partners in a wide variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the analysis of legal documents and research.

The candidate's primary responsibility will be to support the successful completion of transactional and litigation-related projects by providing comprehensive assistance throughout all phases of the process. This role will require the candidate to engage with hotel properties across a diverse geographical region, collaborating with key stakeholders to address a wide range of legal and operational matters. Responsibilities will include conducting research, preparing documentation, coordinating with internal and external legal teams, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to contribute to risk assessment initiatives, support contract negotiations, and assist in the resolution of disputes. A proactive approach, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously will be essential for success in this role.



Responsibilities

Litigation Support:

    Managing case files, tracking key deadlines, and coordinating litigation calendars.
  • Assisting in the preparation and filing of pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
  • Liaising with external counsel and internal teams to gather and organize relevant documentation.
  • Conducting legal research to support case strategy and decision-making.

Transactional Support:

  • Assisting in the preparation, review, and management of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Coordinating document execution and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations affecting hotel operations.
  • Supporting the implementation of legal policies and procedures across properties.
  • Assisting with internal investigations and compliance audits as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate records and document retention policies in alignment with legal standards.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate.
  • 3-5 years experience in paralegal role or related legal experience.
  • Extensive experience with Excel, Outlook, Word, Adobe, and document management software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent proofreading and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Comfortable in a high-pressure, high-volume environment, with an ability to juggle multiple assignments, concurrent deadlines, and changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
