Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
As the largest unit on campus, the College of Arts and Sciences forms the academic core of the Carolina experience. Our mission is to create knowledge and discover innovative solutions to the world's greatest challenges, to educate outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, and to encourage faculty, staff and students to contribute meaningfully to North Carolina, the nation, and the world. UNC's Arts and Sciences Foundation exists to raise philanthropic support for the highest development priorities of the College of Arts and Sciences. Under the leadership and governance of its Board of Directors, and with support from alumni and friends of the College, the Foundation works to grow and steward the College's $1.3 billion endowment. In the recent Campaign for Carolina, the Foundation team raised over $764 million, exceeding its goal of $750 million. The Foundation works collaboratively with University Development and almost every other School and Unit to maximize donor giving to the greater University benefit. Every gift to the College of Arts and Sciences and the University of North Carolina makes a positive impact. The Arts and Sciences Foundation's mission is to enhance the College by meeting the needs of its academic departments, units, and centers; promoting teaching, research and service; and supporting the continued development of knowledge and learning.
Position Summary
The Arts and Sciences Annual Giving Office seeks a full-time annual giving intern for an 11-month paid internship. The ideal candidate will be organized, creative and an enthusiastic supporter of undergraduate arts and sciences education. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Annual Giving, the Annual Giving Intern will work creatively to assist the departments within the College with their individual solicitation needs and to achieve established dollar and participation goals for the Office of Annual Giving.

Primary Responsibilities:
* Manage the creation, coordination and implementation of solicitations for departments within the College, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Annual Giving.
* Assist with stewardship efforts for the Arts and Sciences Fund, including first-time donor cards, Dean's Circle welcome packets/letters, and stewardship emails throughout the year (i.e. Thanksgiving and Valentine's emails).
* Utilize Blackbaud's CRM database, Davie, to pull and analyze fundraising reports, build mailing lists and keep constituent biographic information up to date.
* Assist in designing and crafting language for annual giving appeals, stewardship efforts, and other appropriate written material.
* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Annual Giving or Assistant Director of Annual Giving to meet the goals of the overall annual giving department.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Excellent ability to communicate clearly, passionately, and confidently
* Expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, including mail merge
* Facility with social media and skills in using social media for fundraising
* Accurate editing and proofreading skills
* Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently with independence
* Facility with learning the institutional database system, Blackbaud's CRM, Davie
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Desire to pursue career path in higher education development preferred.
