Job Summary

The Director of Energy Management is responsible for performing energy services to support the development and implementation of energy and operational improvement programs for the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS). The position oversees the organization's energy usage, carbon footprint, and regulatory compliance. This role involves strategic planning, team management, project oversight, and collaboration with executive leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop the organization's energy management strategy, ensuring alignment with institutional goals. Oversee and update energy team manuals and policies.
* Manage the MSHS energy team including energy managers, analysts, project manager (6 personnel)
* Oversee the planning, budgeting and execution of energy projects, ensuring they meet strategic objectives
* Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate energy management practices into an overall organizational strategy
* Ensure compliance with all energy-related regulations, including local, state, and federal requirements. Compliance with NYC local laws will be a major focus.
* Collaborate with MSHS Facility Engineering, Design & Construction personnel
* Analyze energy usage data and performance metrics. Establish and maintain baseline usage.
* Oversee the development of site energy management plans that detail goals and strategies for energy savings, carbon reduction and regulation compliance
* Manage the organization's energy budget and provide budget projections
* Prepare and present reports on energy performance, savings, and strategic initiatives to stakeholders
* Perform ASHRAE energy audits. Employ the use of outside consultants as necessary.
* Develop and oversee submetering plans
* Calculate carbon impact, energy and cost reductions for proposed efficiency strategies
* Manage the process for obtaining incentives and rebates
* Create and manage Measurement and Verification protocols
* Create and implement plans for retro-commissioning to improve operational performance
* Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and best practices
* Represent the organization in discussions with external partners, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
* Maintain project database and document library
* Manage Crothall's energy services contractual obligations with MSHS
QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of 10 years' experience in the performance of energy services. Experience managing staff.
* Experience overseeing energy projects
* Strong knowledge in design, operation and optimization of central heating, cooling and HVAC systems within healthcare and research environments
* BSME/BSEE/BSEM with CEM certification. CBCP, EBCP, CEP and LEED Green Associate desirable
* Well-versed in utilizing multiple vendor Building Management System platforms to collect data for analysis and implement changes to operating sequences
* Expertise in utilizing custom spreadsheets and building modeling programs for calculation of operating conditions and estimation of savings for energy efficiency strategies.
* Strong written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills
* Proficiency with MS Office suite software applications
* Effective at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
* Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of client's organization
