Overview
Utah State Gymnastics is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach to join our dynamic coaching staff. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to develop and implement training plans, assist in the management of practice sessions, and support the overall development and success of the women's gymnastics team. This position offers a great opportunity for individuals passionate about coaching, mentorship, and gymnastics to contribute to the growth and success of our athletes.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in Training and Development: Support the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting gymnastics practice sessions. Help athletes develop skills, techniques, and routines for competition.
  • Individualized Coaching: Provide individualized feedback and guidance to athletes based on their skill levels, helping them to reach their personal and team goals.
  • Competition Preparation: Assist in the preparation of gymnasts for competitions, including planning strategies, warming up athletes, and ensuring athletes are mentally and physically ready.
  • Team Communication: Foster a positive, supportive, and encouraging team environment. Communicate with athletes, parents, and staff regarding expectations, progress, and events.
  • Administrative Support: Help with scheduling, organizing travel arrangements for competitions, and maintaining records for athlete progress.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all athletes by adhering to safety protocols, monitoring physical conditions, and addressing injury concerns.
  • Academic Committment: Demonstrate strong support for the academic mission of the university and NCAA by coordinating with academic services to monitor academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Additional Duties: Assist in recruiting potential gymnasts, attend staff meetings, take responsibility for operational duties, act as a liaison to assigned athletic department areas and university entities, participate in ongoing professional development, and other duties assigned by the head coach.

Responsibilities also include adherence to and promotion of NCAA rules and compliance to staff, student-athletes and representatives of athletics interest; successful completion of NCAA recruiting exam, team building, and community and public relations.

The assistant coach will demonstrate an understanding and commitment to athletics programs at NCAA Division I level, have a commitment to the academic mission of Utah State University, a commitment to the academic success of the student-athletes, serve as a positive role model for student- athletes on and off the court, and work well with students, faculty, staff, and community.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required plus experience that demonstrates an excellent knowledge of the techniques and strategies of the sport of gymnastics
  • Club, high school or collegiate coaching experience a must
  • Candidate should have successful recruiting experience and have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Must pass the NCAA recruiting test upon hiring or have already passed it for the upcoming year

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as an assistant collegiate coach

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong passion for gymnastics and coaching
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and motivating environment for all athletes
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to work collaboratively with the coaching team
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of individual athletes and the team
