Location: Bremerton, Washington Type: Non-Exempt, hourly Compensation: $29.66 - $44.47/hour (Tessera's compensation strategy is to position new employees between the minimum and midpoint of this range, depending on qualifications and experience.) Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (Flexible start and end times depending on scheduling needs. This is currently a hybrid position with at least 2 days in-office and 3 days working remotely. Schedule is based off of business needs.) As a Payroll Administrator, you'll... The Payroll Administrator is directly responsible for all aspects of payroll processing and payroll accounting. Has thorough knowledge and understanding of Workday Payroll to process high volume multi-state payrolls. Assisting with and supporting management in carrying out the responsibilities of the payroll department. Perform payroll functions including data entry, timesheet review, reconciliation and payroll related record keeping.
Process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for both exempt and non-exempt, union, and non-union employees in a multi-state environment. Prepares weekly direct deposit ACH file and Positive Pay file transmitting both to bank for processing. Process stop payments and direct deposit reversals as appropriate. Work closely with finance department in resolving outstanding uncashed payroll checks, voiding, and reissuing when required. Ensures the accurate calculation of all payments processed through audit and review of pre-payroll audit reports. Review calculations and validate multiple rates of pay from different positions worked by employees. Verify all entries balance to Payroll calculation and FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) overtime calculations. Review and process voluntary and involuntary payroll deductions. Enter and track payroll advances and employee savings payouts. Act as a functional lead and subject matter expert in all applications associated with multi-state payroll taxes, retroactive pay, and garnishments. Audit and review Payroll Specialist duties; mentoring, training, and supporting in all payroll administration matters. Process final pay for terminating employees, including calculations and payout of unused vacation time, and ensuring accurate and adequate documentation. Manage employment verification tasks and unemployment claims. Review time submitted through time tracking from various systems including Workday, Epicor, and Maximo. Upload time integrations for sites that do not use Workday time tracking. Work closely with HR Department providing support and assistance with new employee on boarding, employee audits, and other employee payroll related requests. Audit payroll transactions (Employee changes, pay rate changes, taxes, and transfers), and reconcile variances between payroll and HR systems. Assists employees with questions regarding pay issues and interpreting, and applying Payroll and Benefit laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Collaborates and participates with entire Payroll team on Month-End, Quarter-End and Year-End Payroll related tasks and projects. Ability to problem solve, multitask, and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Document workflow and work procedures, including suggesting and assisting in implementing Process Improvement measures. Ability and confidence to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Summary of desired skills and experience for the Tessera Payroll Administrator:
Associate's degree in Accounting is required. 3 - 5 years of previous experience in Finance or Accounting is required. Previous experience in Payroll is preferred. Combination of education and previous experience will be considered. A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance. Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
