Position Overview

The Supervisor, Technical Laboratory Training is part of the training and development leadership team with specific focus leading learning professionals within the Technical Laboratory training team. This role focuses on the engagement, continuous development, and coordination of daily activities and operations for a team of learning professionals at multiple levels. In addition, this role leads the creation and maintenance of in-house training programs for department-specific learning needs through partnership with operational leaders. This role also leads/delegates the coordination, design, and implementation of training solutions to support business needs through expert skills in needs assessment and learning design. The Supervisor, Technical Laboratory Training is an expert in training and professional development and utilizes that expertise to design and implement training strategy and continually develop professional skills of team members. This position is responsible for ensuring all training performed consistently to meet regulatory standards and training best practices.

Regular working hours: Monday through Thursday, 11:00am-9:30pm.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform all assigned job duties following laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the training and competency process for the operational team being supported through training.
  • Develop training expertise, behavior, mindsets, and skillsets of team members.
  • Ensure that appropriate training opportunities are identified and provided to employees to grow personal, career, and organizational development capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external sources to create learning solutions that improve understanding, drive behavior change, and improve quality.
  • Utilize data from feedback, observation, partnership with quality teams, and trending of non-conforming events to identify training initiatives and oversee the creation of learning interventions.
  • Incorporate expertise in adult Learning, learning theory, emerging technology, and design thinking to provide innovative synchronous and asynchronous training solutions for the business.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, competency/pass rate, qualitative data, and quantitative data.
  • Develop retraining or corrective action plans for employees, as needed.
  • Provide input and guidance in the identification of updates needed to standard operating procedures (SOPs), communications of official guidance (COOGs), workflow, or documentation in collaboration with operational leaders and in accordance with all regulatory practices.
  • Respond to technical questions consistent with level of training; seek guidance appropriately if answers are not known.
  • Coordinate, develop, implement, and perform competency assessments or proficiency testing, as necessary.
  • Obtain, distribute, file, and maintain records of training in accordance with Exact Sciences Laboratories record retention policies and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain competency on select tasks to assist operations, as needed.
  • Oversee the maintenance of reagent and supply inventory for training.
  • Collaborate with other training and development leaders cross-functionally.
  • Lead regular 1:1 sessions and support new and existing professional development initiatives.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicategoals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Motivateandinspireemployees to do their best work through coaching.
  • Maintainmorale and support employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.

  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Education, Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or field related to the essential duties of the job; or High School Diploma/General Education Degree (GED) and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7+ years of professional experience related to the essential duties of the position.
  • 1+ years of direct leadership experience overseeing professional-level employees.
  • Demonstrated expertise in peer-to-peer training, education with progressively increasing responsibility, exposure, and scope.
  • Demonstrated understanding of instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, technical, and/or hands-on/on-the-job training.
  • Demonstrated understanding of content development, facilitation, and evaluation of training.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan workload, allocate tasks, and scale operations to align with business priorities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working in a high-complexity laboratory or similar environment with professional working knowledge of HIPAA, GLP, GDP, and laboratory terminology and equipment.
  • Strong computer skills to include Internet navigation, use of virtual meeting/facilitation platforms, use of messaging services, and use of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of lab experience/lab-education program experience in a lab providing high complexity testing or 1+ year performing high complexity testing.
  • Demonstrated use of applicable software, such Epic or laboratory information system (LIS).
  • Possession of and ability to maintain ASCP Certification or state licensure that has been determined to be equivalent.

Salary Range:

$85,000.00 - $135,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
